How many chapters and verses in the Bible

No chapters, verses to start.

All chapters and verses have been added to the original texts to aid in study and reference among scholars.

That’s why I have often heard the statement “here is an unfortunate chapter break”, where the train of thought or argument of the author is interrupted by the start of a new chapter which separates and confuses the intent of the teaching.

That also explains difference among translations. The KJV is probably the most used “standard” for other translations simply because it was so widely used in the West for so many years.

peace to you

and there were no page numbers either
I heard a pastor once that routinely would say “turn to page 1275 (or other) in your bibles and then say book, chapter and verse.

I guess he figured everyone had the exact same Bible that he did. Or maybe he was making a joke

peace to you

I always try to help people

if you are using one of our pew bibles, turn to page …..

If you need help in finding Jonah. Flip you bible half open to psalms. Then go toward the back about 40-50 pages. If you get to Matthew, you’ve gone a little too far. Etc
