I started playing last summer and am hooked. Anybody else enjoy playing golf?

If you do play tell us some memorable moments, both good and not-so-good.

Is that the game we call COW-PASTURE-POOL here in Appalachia?

I play it sometimes, and I must be pretty good! My buddies say I ALWAYS have the highest score!

Looks like only golfers have answered you poll!

Love the game, there is a nice course nearby that you can play for about $20 including cart after 3:00 pm

go to golfq.com and look for Grand Prairie Country Club (if you live in the DFW area) - It is a fairly short, very tight course. Lots of trees and water comes into play on about 14-15 holes

If you are in a metropolitan area you might find some good deals on golfq.com

    Nice site Jimmy.

I get to play on a private course (not the nicest I have played but pretty good) for $10.00, walking at twilight.

There are some really tough par 5s and 3s. Some of the greens have a wicked slope on them.

There is water on at least 4 of the holes, and their are sand traps, but the quality of the sand stinks. Seems like you are hitting out of concrete somtimes.

    ;)

Everybody struggles with somthing in the game, even the best wish to improve in some aspect. Thats part of what makes it a great game. You never seem to truly master it.

Golf is one of those games you either love or hate. I have only been playing for 1 1/2 seasons, so I am not that good yet. I shot a 93 last time I was out. I got these new Nike irons and a CPR hybrid and absolutly love them. They sure have helped to improve my game.

Golf is the favorite game of preachers, car dealers and insurance salesmen. Don't know what that means, but rather interesting.

Love the game, but too, doesn't love me.

Also, rather expensive to play here - depending on where you play and if in/out of tourist season. It's much cheaper to play in the summer when all of the tourists are gone.

I have been playing for 20 years. This year, I have played less than I have since I finished seminary seven years ago. And I have hit the ball better than I have in a long time. I wish fewer people liked golf. Then the prices would come down and the courses would be less crowded.

I had a preacher buddy who gave me a pretty nice set of used Spalding clubs---a complete set. And I started playing---at least once a week!! I was good at driving to the green----I could get it there in a hurry---but "chippin' and puttin'" was my weakness. On a Par 5 hole----I could get the ball from the tee to within 20 yards of the green in about 2 shots----but from then on----it was "4 to 5" over par---just puttin' the stupid ball into the cup!!!

So the last time I played----it was with my brother!!! Cost each of us $20 smackers---for 18 holes(and we walked at that!!)---anyway---he won!! And I told him---"Bro!!! Thats the last time I'm gonna pay 20 doughnuts to lose!!!!"

I sold my clubs and gave the money to SBC missions!!!!

Once upon a time, in a galaxy far, far away, I learned to golf at a 9-hole course with sand greens. A slice off the first hole would land you in someone's flower bead. A slice off the 9th would be in a pasture (surrounded by barbwire fence) that would make the ball impossible to find.

That was bad enough, but after I almost decapitated the boss on a drive at a company scramble, I decided that golf was best left alone.

Although there are some folks on the BB I would love to take a slice at ... and they at me.

I have been known to hit a ball or two. A shoulder surgery took a LOT from my game that I may never get back... but I still have fun with it from time to time.

I do love a good game of golf, especially when you get in a good rhythm on the course.

It is pretty ridiculous, especially since we live in the State with more Golf courses than any other state, and can only play 9 months out of the year
