By '' Hardshell " I mean Old School or Primitive Baptist . I knew at one time there were several but it seems like there are only a few left.

I think mostly the soft shell ones are left. To my knowledge @kyredneck and @tyndale1946 have not lost their shells yet but I look for molting to begin in a few months.

    Hello Michael,
What do you believe are two or three of the most important distinctive of "hardshells" that make them stand out in a different way from others?

It might not be accurate, but from my reading, the article above is reasonably close in description.
Michael or one of the others would have to confirm, of course.

'Hardshells' preach the gospel to feed the sheep and bring the sheep home, not to make sheep. (for one thing)

''Reasonably Close'' is correct. Old School Baptist do not believe the church has the authority to establish non Biblical organizations, to control the spread of the gospel or ministers , such as ''Missionary Boards. We are not against the spread of the gospel on Biblical principles, but rather believe it should be under the direction of the Holy Ghost and deny that the gospel regenerates or quickens the alien sinner this is by the operation of the Holy Spirit an effectual call , which is to son ship . The gospel call is to discipleship to those who have already been born again.
