Ever gone across the high plains on a steaming hot summer day? The signs for "Free Ice Water" at Wall Drug sure seem enticing.

I stop by 4-5 times a year to have a cuppa and some of the best cake donuts in the world. How 'bout you? Ever been there or seen signs?

1604 miles from the heart of Yankeeland to Wall, SD. Too far for a cup or ice water but if we're talking cake donuts -- that's a horse of a different color.

Lived in Colorado Springs when the Mrs and I were first married. Always had good intentions but....

One of my favorite memories as a kid, was the stop at Wall Drug. I still remember the tree that was in the middle of a room, and esp. the 'cowboy orchestra' manequins.

Here is the history of Wall Drug http://www.walldrug.com/history.htm . I thought EVERYONE knew about it, but maybe because I am from the Midwest originally and anyone who traveled the roads saw signs 968 miles to Wall Drug.

But signs abound. Here's one at the Moscow airport . .
