One of the reasons I advocate for an educated clergy is because there are certain doctrines that divide us that almost no seminary educated person COULD believe.

You either could not have been exposed to certain facts about history, hermeneutics and exegesis or you had to ignore them in seminary.

So I got to thinking, how many reputable seminaries actually teach KJVOism?

By "reputable" I mean one not started by some hayseed hillbilly pastor out of the back of his IFB church.

Liberty's seminary doesn't get anywhere near KJVO. In fact, I know many of their faculty and they openly teach against KJVO.

I can't think of a major seminary that accepts KJVO, nor can I think of many seminaries that do either.

No real, accredited seminary that I know of does. None would reject the KJV, either- just the "O" teaching.

I was wondering where the Liberty comment came from - I know they are not KJVO.

    Doesn't do what????

Teach KJVO? No, they do not.

Are they a hayseed hillbilly seminary? No. They are the largest Christian University on planet earth.

So, I don't understand your question.

When Pensacola (seminary?) started promoting and even making videos supporting the KJVonly position, the historic fundamental Baptist seminaries of the north united to try to stem this false teaching.

Good professors from Detroit, Central, Maranatha, Calvary and other Baptist seminaries showed the fallacies, errors, and cultic origins of this false teaching.

Pensacola ratcheted down the rhetoric (tho I think still are KJVonly) as it was a debate they could not win. The problem was, of course, MONEY and POWER. Students were leaving that "college" and then going to quality seminaries that debunked the garbage they had been taught.

But I don't know of a real seminary holding to this. Even the 7th Day Adventists who originated this divisive teaching have now repudiated it as false and their schools will not abide by it.

You could answer pm so as not to throw the op off tract. BTW my brothers pastor has a doctorate, pastors an IFB church in NJ & is a solid Calvinist....surname is Brown!

Do you know approximately how many students graduate from Pensacola Theological Seminary on a yearly basis?

Liberty does not have an official stance on DoG. I've had professors of both persuasions.

From the PTS web page Here is the doctrine statment.

    and from Wiki:
Since the inception of PCC and of the Campus Church, critics have pointed out that college's Campus Church may not be a true local church. One example of how the Campus Church operates differently is the recent selection of its current pastors. Traditionally, local churches of the Independent Baptist persuasion (as the Campus Church claims to be) take a congregational approach to selecting a pastor. In the case recent pastoral successions at the campus church, the college administration has selected who will be the next pastor without congregational vote. PCC however holds that as an independent church they alone have the right to operate the Campus Church according to their interpretation of scripture

I just don't know how anyone can go through even the most fundamentalist of educations and come out as a complete KJVO supporter by the time they earn their doctorate. The historical inaccuracies of the KJVO camp alone are exhaustively disproven they aren't acceptable.

Then when you start actually learning the original languages, the claims of the KJVO camp go out the window entirely.

So, it shouldn't be at all surprising that you can't find a credible seminary that promotes KJVO.

    You Should Be More Careful

Some of the finest men of God that I have ever heard of or know anything about would probably be considered "hayseed hillbillies" by you and folks like you. If I was you I'd be more careful about throwing disrespectful labels like that around when referring to men of God and other humble, simple and faithful servants of the Lord. Some of the deadest preaching of the Bible that I have ever heard came from seminary-educated Dr's of Theology that had tons of book learning and ice cold hearts. The only "accreditation" that truly matters is the kind that men have nothing to do with....that which comes from the God of Heaven. Your smug attitude is truly tragic. God blesses the ministry and outreaches of the local New Testament Church. If I was going to train for the ministry I would be seeking to attend a place where practical day to day experience in Church or Missions could be attained through practical daily service in addition to just more "book learning". That is just my opinion.

There are hundreds of independent Baptist colleges and seminaries.

    Pensacola Bible Institute
Dr. Peter Ruckman is the most prolific KJV scholar of all time.
Bible Baptist Bookstore is the world's largest collection of KJV Theological books.

    Hyles Anderson College
    Large Independent Baptist College
Dr. Jack Hyles build the largest church of it's day.

    New York Institute of Theology
Holds the U.S. copyright, world's first
Bachelor of Science in Academic Theology Degree

And not one is a legitimate seminary or training school. The last one doesn't even have a website. Probably run out of someone's broom closet.
