I am quite familiar with Hastings, and I have family and friends in GI, Kearney and Hastings! I spent three years developing the Hall County Youth Services Bureau [probably no longer there]. The grant was to develop a system for status offenders [teens] such as emergency foster homes, counseling, crisis counseling, etc. I had a counterpart in your county, doing the same thing! All in all, we had a grant for five Nebraksa counties, and we all accomplished the goals of making sure status offenders were no longer arrested and put in jail like adults or teens who committed serious felonies!

Hall county was the first to establish emergency foster homes. I made this happen with tons of community support from 1977 to 1980. Unfortunately, the grant was put on hold after the great tornado in GI, and I was transferred to emergency management services [I was assigned to counsel several of the families who lost loved ones, and I helped them make final arrangements]. I guess they wanted to utilize me pastoral skills and experience, but closing the Youth Services was sad! After that, I ended up in Omaha with adult social services, and went private to Girls Club to develop several programs that Ruppert Murdock gave girls club 6million dollars to dvelop. I loved my days in GI and loved that job! It was the beginning of many postive things in my life and the ministry that folllowed!
