Do the scriptures give instructions on when/how to baptize?

I like the Ethiopian eunuch model. As soon as the new believer says they want to be baptized.

Don’t link baptism with membership. Let membership be available to those that have made a credible profession of faith, have been baptized and have gone through the classes.

    peace to you

Our pastor wishes to ensure, as much as it's possible, that the candidate's profession is sincere, and to be sure that the candidate understands the biblical meaning of baptism. He can generally do that in a short session. Baptisms are held periodically when candidates come forth, done as soon as practical following the request.

My wife and I didn't attend a true Bible-preaching church until 10+ years after we had (separately, before marriage) been saved. The summer after we began attending a fundamental church ("St. John Bible Church" though thoroughly baptistic) we were baptized in the nearby St. John River along with several others. During the baptisms the sister of one candidate professed salvation, and after a short talk with the pastor, was baptized mere minutes after salvation. She showed a fruitful Christian walk during the 4 years before we moved 200 miles to the south and lost contact.

As soon as possible. Command, precept, and example all favor baptism following a profession of faith as soon as possible.

The very good news is whatever the policy of the church, salvation is not jeopardized or delayed in anyway.

    peace to you

As we don't keep our baptistry full of warm water 24/7/365, we baptize once a month. So, there is time to educate and examine a candidate.

yes, as my wife parents kept stressing out that we had not had our boys infant baptized, as being Russian orthodox, we were to them subjecting them to hell if not done and they were to die!

It actually depends on your religion sector. For Catholics, they prefer it on an early age so that the divine intervention will be experienced ahead of time. For others, someone must undergo first bible teachings before being baptized.

It should be as soon as possible. I believe that is the example we have from Scripture. There definitely is no example of a class for baptism in Scripture and that just seems a bit ridiculous to me.

I see a push in Baptist churches as well to baptize children. I had an elderly member (in bad health) of my church that was pushing me to baptize her grandchildren before she died.

    peace to you

We see that children can be saved by the Lord while young, but hold off water until 12 years old....
