How to Determine if Christianity Has Been Americanized

Another thread is entitled: "10 Ways To Determine If Your Christianity Has Been “Americanized”. The following is perhaps the simplest way to determine if your Church {Christianity} has been Americanized! Certainly no true person or congregation that professes to follow the teaching of Scripture could support/promote the slaughter of the unborn child.

Liberal and some mainline denominations: In general, these either promote a woman's right to choose an abortion, or are relatively silent on the matter. A number of liberal and mainline Christian and Jewish faith groups and organizations have publicly stated that abortions are sometimes an acceptable option, and should remain legal. According to lists prepared by The Secular Web and the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice, they include, in alphabetic order:

American Baptist Churches-USA (see below),
American Ethical Union,
American Friends (Quaker) Service Committee,

Christian Church (Disciples of Christ),

Episcopal Church (USA),

Moravian Church in America-Northern Province,

Presbyterian Church (USA),
Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice,
Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints,

Unitarian Universalist Association,
United Church of Christ,
United Methodist Church,

http://www.religioustolerance.org/abo_hist1.htm

I have removed those Jewish groups which advocate for the slaughter of the unborn child.

An expanded list of those denominations that advocate for the slaughter of the unborn is as follows:

Protestant supporters of abortion rights include
the United Church of Christ,
the United Methodist Church,
the Episcopalian Church,
and the United Presbyterian Church,
the Episcopal Church,
the Presbyterian Church (USA),
The United Church of Christ,
The United Methodist Church,
and the Lutheran Women's Caucus.[12][39]
The American Baptist Churches USA,
Evangelical Lutheran Church of America,
the Presbyterian Church (USA)
and The United Church of Christ

consider abortion permissible under certain restricted circumstances.{40}

I'm glad to see that the Primitive Baptist Churches are not in this group... This is so tragic and beyond words... I believe this world didn't want them but someone did... These little babes are now safe in the arms of Jesus... That's what I believe!... Brother Glen

Any church or denomination or person that has:

  1. bought into the GOP political agenda.
  2. spends time spreading hated of Muslims than in taking the message of Christ to them.
  3. agrees that the poor, the ill, the elderly do not need to be helped.
  4. spends more time preaching about who should be voted for and not about reaching out to the unsaved.
  5. advocate cutting government funds to people in need, but do not tithe yourself.
  6. say we are a nation of law, but quote the Bible instead of law to prove your point about law.
  7. reliance upon universal human instincts as the basis of moral awareness.
  8. preaching a mixture of theology and politics.
  9. emphasizing St. Paul while ignoring the teachings of Jesus.

I am against abortion but say you have a daughter who stands a much greater chance of dying if she gives birth? Has been raped or molested? Baby has severe medical condition(s) such as spina bifida?

I am thankful I have never been placed in those situaions myself. I would just trust God and pray for a healthy outcome.

I asked those questions because I can see why some would choose abortion. Do not agree with it, but I see where they are coming from.

You might find the following helpful. I posted a larger excerpt on another thread!

This chapter was written by the former Surgeon General of the United States, Dr. C. Everett Koop.

Abortion [killing infants before birth], infanticide [killing infants after birth], and euthanasia [killing adults] stand before us like dominoes; the first to fall has been abortion on demand. It is a grave issue. Nothing like it has separated our society since the days of slavery.

It simply isn't true. Abortions in the United States for rape, incest, to protect the life of the mother, or to void a defective fetus comprise less than five percent of all abortions. The rest are performed just for convenience. And we're talking about one million abortions a year.

Rape practically never results in pregnancy. Studies in Pennsylvania and Minnesota concerning rape and pregnancy show that as many as five thousand rapes have occurred successively without a single pregnancy . .

Most people do not know that the younger the mother is the more likely she will suffer sterility later if she has an abortion. Studies in Canada indicate that sterility is as high as thirty percent among women fifteen to seventeen years old who have had abortions . .

Protection of the life of the mother as an excuse for an abortion is a smoke screen. In my thirty-six years in pediatric surgery I have never known of one instance where the child had to be be aborted to save the mother's life.

When a woman is pregnant, her obstetrician takes on the care of two patients—the mother-to-be and the unborn baby. If, toward the end of the pregnancy complications arise that threaten the mother's health, he will take the child by inducing labor or performing a Caesarian section.

His intention is still to save the life of both the mother and the baby. The baby will be premature . . The baby is never willfully destroyed because the mother's life is in danger.

Actually Mr. Crab the only "churches?" in this country that are allowed to inject politics into their sermons are the black churches that support the Marxist democrat party. These are the only churches that let such as Hillary Clinton take the pulpit and speak with a false Southern accent to garner the black vote.

I also find it interesting that though you vow and declare you are against the slaughter of the unborn you omitted that from your list. A Freudian slip I suppose. Actually it is not that strange at all!

It is a fact that Marx was an atheist. It is a fact that Marxist led countries suppress the Christian religion. It is a fact that the Marxist democrat party in this country is anti-Christian. It is a fact that there are more professing Christians who vote Republican than who vote democrat. It is a fact that at the last nominating convention for Obama the Marxist democrats spent one evening celebrating the slaughter of the unborn.
spends time spreading hated of Muslims than in taking the message of Christ to them.
It is a fact that Islam is an anti-Christ. If you feel the call to go preach to them I am sure there are sufficient people on this Forum who would fund your short ministry! I will personally throw in 10%, now if nine others will share you are on your way Mr. Crab.
agrees that the poor, the ill, the elderly do not need to be helped.
It is a documented fact that Republicans and Conservatives in general give far more to charity than do Marxist democrats or democrats in general.
spends more time preaching about who should be voted for and not about reaching out to the unsaved.
It is a fact that only black churches aligned with the Marxist democrat party can tell people how to vote without incurring the wrath of the IRS.
advocate cutting government funds to people in need, but do not tithe yourself.
Repeating myself: It is a documented fact that Republicans and Conservatives in general give far more to charity than do Marxist democrats.

You are apparently unaware that the Bible is the basis for all moral law and law in general. It is a fact that the ten commandments are in the US Supreme Court Building and I believe an image of Moses also.
reliance upon universal human instincts as the basis of moral awareness.
You are speaking of Marxist democrats who have rejected Jesus Christ and His teachings.
preaching a mixture of theology and politics.
Apparently you are attending either a very liberal congregation or a black church. I have never heard politics preached from a SBC pulpit in 50 years!
emphasizing St. Paul while ignoring the teachings of Jesus.
The Bible is inspired by God. The teachings of Paul are the teachings of God, more exactly the teaching of the Word of God, Jesus Christ. {John 1.1f}
emphasizing the sins of others but not preaching about the sins inside the local church.
Just where do you attend worship Mr. Crab?

Well, I once worked with a woman who had a child due to a rape. She never really gave it a second thought of having an abortion.

Good post. Dr. Koop is a smart man.

I remember not to long ago Americans were going to Romania to adopt children from orphanages and had to pay big buck to adopt one... And churches are telling women to abort them. Who speaks for these unborn children?... Who cries for them?... Brethren this cuts me to the core!... I have two handicapped children and thoughts never entertained my mind that I wished they were never born... Scriptures state that the sins of the fathers will be visited upon the children to the third and fourth generation... Judgement is just around the corner...One more very important point "All of us were adopted into the Family Of God"!... Brother Glen

I have posted the following on this Forum before. It is one of the best stories I have heard. I watch it occasionally because it is so inspiring! My wife and I have one birth child and two adopted children {Adopted prior to Roe v Wade}. God has been good to us. Just think how many children that could grow up to be like this young lady have been slaughtered {56,000,000 and counting}.
