Today the news is full of stories and articles related to various people from my past. Some are negative, some are positive.

My phone has been ringing off the wall with, "Did you see," calls.

All of it has me thinking - years from now - if you "made the news" - would people recall you as a good Christian, a good friend, a moral person? Or would people recall reasons to suspect you'd end up as a front-page negative?

One of these people was a fine Christian friend to me for over 29 years. She was loved and respected by our city, and she was "good friends" with a lot of amazing people like Ronald Regan, George W., George H., Barbara and Laura Bush. She passed away of cancer. She was a Christian, a charitable person, and she owned a very profitable business. I haven't seen a single unkind word printed about her.

Another two people were former coworker, and later supervisors, of my brother-in-law and my children's Dad. When the car accident tore my family apart, and I desperately needed for my then-husband to be given medical leave to rest so that he could recover from the head injury that had made him psychotic - these people had just been promoted to supervisor and refused. They also added so much stress to the situation that it exaberated his condition. My brother-in-law, concerned for clients under the care of these individuals, left the business after almost 20 years experience. Refusing to compromise quality care of retarded individuals to satisfy. Today they are in the news as being removed from office and being investigated for providing unsafe-care of individuals in their care.

With Jane Anne, the calls are, "I can't believe she is gone." "Heaven has a wonderful angel." "What will we do without her." With Janice and Jay the calls are, "Its about time!" "I can't believe they finally caught them." "There is justice in the world."

What we do today is remembered.

What kind of legacy are each of us leaving behind?

I hope above all that I am remembered as one who loved the Lord Jesus Christ above all. Next I hope to be remembered as a man who loved his wife as much as a man can love a woman. But most of all I hope that I am remembered by God the Father and that it is in His Son I placed my hope and on His Word I based my salvation and my life.

    Very cool POB,
I wonder how many men would put their other half right in the middle of a statement like that. Enlightening look from that candle you light there.

How will I be remembered? Not at all, I hope and pray.

When Charles Spurgeon was still preaching, the London Times printed the full text of a sermon each Sunday in their Religion section. The famous preacher, Joseph Parker, of City Temple, preached one of his fiery sermons, and the Religion editor, who personally went to hear each sermon and record it in short hand, placed a post-script to the sermon saying, "It is evident that Mr. Parker is a great preacher."

After hearing Charles Spurgeon preach the post-script read, "It is evident that Mr. Spurgeon has a Great God."

I would rather they remember my God then remember me. [IMG]

I hope to be remembered as a man that cared about others more than himself.

Reminds me of a joke [IMG]

Three men were in the 'welcome adjudtment class' in heaven
having very recently died. The instructer angel asked:
"as your loved ones look into your casket, what would you
    like them to say most?"

The first man, a Medical Doctor, wanted to be known as a
    great healer of broken bodies.

The second man wanted them to say: "He was so good to his
wife all of her life and a real good father to his two
    children".

The third one paused thoughfully then said: "I want them
to look in my casket and say "He moved!" [IMG]

Aside from my beautiful wife and wonderful daughters, I really do not care if the world remembers me.

All I ask is that God remembers me.

I just left the service for Jane Anne. She was a remarkable woman, and those who wanted to pay tribute to her included a US Senator, a federal judge, two congressmen, several state, city and county elected officials.

What Jane Anne asked for, and received, was a service that glorified Christ.

What the tributes said of her was, "She didn't play political games. If you wanted her help, you had to be a man or woman of integrity, and you had to live your faith or she didn't waste her time with you."

    I'm going to miss her.

I really do not care how people remember me when I die. Death tends to magnify different traits of a person in each individual's mind, but it obviously diminishes the whole perspective of their life. I want to help others, but I only have to answer to my God.

99%+ won't be remembered at all in 50 years. In 100 years, even the most famous will only be known second hand. Makes you wonder why so many are always too busy for God.

My hope rests with Christ remembering me.
