How would you: lead others to Christ!

Pray for them, Share the Gospel with them, and allow the Holy Spirit to convict them and win them. IOW, it is not our job to win them. It is our job to preach the Word, and to show them the love of God through our lives. It is God's job to draw them unto himself.

When Jesus talked with people he told them to come and follow him not a three step prayer and you will be saved.

So often the big step is a series of small steps of committment. Jesus reached people where they were aned interacted with them at their level.

 

Sample,

just be careful of the Personal Evangelism class creating in you the feeling that you "must" follow a certain plan or the person you are talking to will not really get saved. When I was in college my P.E. class did that for me. I was afraid to go outside the formula for awhile. I know I was just a silly little college student straight out of high school, and you're a grown man and know what you are talking about, so you probably won't have that problem.

I always have to relax and just tell people what happened to me, and let the Holy Spirit do the convicting.

I don't know which course you are taking, but I think sometimes they tend to leave the Holy Spirit's part out of the process. I think anytime you are going out soul winning, the first step is to pray, pray, pray for the Holy Spirit to be out there with you convicting and leading the right person to your presence.

 

SAMPLEWOW I like to see other Christians as excited as you are about getting people saved! I agree with Brother Ian I also like how "way of the Master" uses the 10 Commandments to help show people their sin, then proceed to tell them about Jesus. I have been learing from their program since it first came out. I used it on my son in law.

But although I been thinking of another way with using a visual. i.e. Last weekend was our first big grass fire and we were in the middle of a burning field with the flames and smoke and radio communications were nil to none due to 3 other fires and a train derailment going on at the same time. I thought how simular hell must be (+ 100 times magnified), but while in the middle of a burning field (75 acres) with acid smoke burning your lungs and crying for help and can't get out because theres several others walking over your radio transmission. (Finally gave up on the radio and got my cell phone out and called for help.) Yep, but that would be a perfect oppertunity to tell a sinner about Jesus (if you could get one in the fire truck with you.) Because if people don't have Jesus as their Savior they'll end up in a bigger burning place and crying out for help and no help will come because it will be too late.

Take out a fire assurance. Get on your knees and Call 1-800-Jesus-4U and ask Him about His plan 4 U (its out of this world).

This sounds like a cop-out answer, but I'm serious. I leave it up to God to show me the way because sometimes I find out I'm being a witness when I didn't know I was.

I've had people ask me to tell them about my Christ "because you're always so happy, no matter what happens."
I've had people ask me to tell them about my Christ "because you handled grief with such a calm spirit."
I've had people ask me to tell me about my Christ because "when you had cancer, you had such peace, and then you were healed."

I've started out conversations with non-Christian friends that were never meant to turn into discussions of Christ that did. Sometimes they start out with defending Christians against accusations like, "Christians are stupid," or "only an idiot will believe in God," and I explain WHY I believe in Christ and what He means to me personally.

Sometimes I start out with the Roman Road and go door to door. Sometimes I start out with a small child looking for something to do in the summer who ends up in a VBS class. Sometimes I start out by helping with a worldly physical need like a meal or toy or even just a hug and listening ear.

In other words - I introduce people to Christ the same way I introduce human beings to human beings. One person at a time.

 

I do not think there is any one set way to do it every time. The big thing for me is learning to be sensitive to opportunities, and to allow the Holy Spirit to work in that opportunity. I have found when I try to do something I mess it up every time, but when I lean on the Holy Spirit for guidance and leadership, it works out.

I have found that using questions simliar to those in the Share Jesus Without Fear study are very helpful in conversations with lost people.

 

It is a good tool, but it doesn't save anyone. The Gospel does.

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is (singular) the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." Rom. 1:16

The Way of the Master is great, and so is Evangelism Explosion

 

We may want to stay away from "church verbiage" that others don't understand like "being convicted", but I believe that when explaining the Gospel that it is imperative to quote Scripture to back it up. Otherwise it sounds like it's just your opinion. Make a point about the Gospel. then back up that point with a Scripture verse. Then make another point, and do the same until you are through.

And only Scripture is "quick and powerful" (Heb. 4:12). And God looks for those that believe His Word (Isa. 66:2). John 12:48

 

It also helps to have some good Bible verse tracts on you all the time. Our church makes our own, but there's lots of places that give them away for free in many areas.

 

Yes, I love to give out and place tracts. Use the ones with Scripture on them though.

We have a small church that we just started and there's a small grange fair near us each year. In fact we rented their building before we got our church.

In five days we handed out over 6,000 tracts to people as they entered the fair. Your prayers for their salvation would be appreciated.

 

I don't think you can really discuss the gospel message of Christ without using scripture. I agree with Dr. Bob though - language matters.

I've discovered that with some people I can go, "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God," and with others they just roll their eyes and go, "If I don't believe in God, why would I believe your bible." But with the second group I ~can~ expand and say, "Okay, look, do you, or don't you agree, that every person in the world has done or said something that they would REALLY rather not have the whole world know about because whatever it was, they KNOW, deep down, it was wrong?" When they agree, you can point out that the knowledge they did wrong is God's voice, and that the fact that everyone does wrong is straight out of God's word.

 

ask if they were to die right now do they know if they would go to heaven or not. if they are not sure ask if they would like to find out more and be certain. if yes tell them your story.
objections can be numerous and approached case by case. but I tell those objectors the Word of God has only 2 possibilities. heaven or hell. if they don't believe in God I try to give them some stats on the odds that even a single living cell happening by accident is a mind staggering thing. and that "true" scientific fact can really only side with a Creator not evalution which has only basis in theory and not fact.
