My name is Mark, and I recently moved to Kerrville from Arlington, TX; however, I'm on a 30-60 day deployment with my job doing disaster recovery work in Shreveport, LA (anyone know any good southern Baptist churches here?).

My papa was a church-planter out in northeast Texas, so my parents made sure I had a good upbringing in the Baptist faith. In college, I did the usual questioning but my dorm R.A. was awesome and actively involved in a local college church group. After getting married in mid-2008 and moving half-way across the State, I was able to find FBC Kerrville...a great preacher and a loving congregation.

Welcome Mark! Who do you work for, if you don't mind me asking. :) I know someone who's ministry/business it is to work with disaster stuff - mostly bringing in heavy equipment to help clear up so people can get to work to recover. He's trying to get a crew to go to Haiti right now. His group is called First Response Team of America. :)

I hope you enjoy BB. It's a wild ride but there are some great people here.

I work with FEMA Region VI, in the Planning Section. I'm always hesitant to start off with that, because I don't work with disaster applicants or their case work...I deal with supporting the Federal and State leadership (i.e. producing reports, facilitating meetings, records management, etc). I sit behind a desk, rarely seeing the field work.

My new church wanted me to get trained with their "yellow hat" Texas Baptist Men crew, but I got sent to LA before the training began, lol. With Haiti being treated, for now, as a Protectorate of the U.S., a lot of FEMA personnel and commodities are on the ground there. I usually work the TX, OK, AR, LA area. Beautiful NM is in our Region, but I have yet to work there.

Hi Mark! My husband and I are from the Houston/Galveston area before we moved farther east. My son is still in DFW area.

Thanks :) I spent almost three months working out of a field office in Webster for Ike recovery! Right across from Ellington Field.

Hi DM :flower:

I can recommend Brookwood Baptist Church in Shreveport because I can recommend the pastor, Dr. Mark Sutton.

Here's a link to their site!
