The other night night while giving a pep talk for a fellow democrat in Maryland, in a district that gave Obama 90% of the votes in 2012, hundreds of blacks got up when Obama came to the dais to speak. It was thought that these folks were sending a message of distancing themselves from their president as the mid-term elections draw closer.

Apparently he did not take this well, claiming these were his people, and they supported his policies. Sorry, I have no access to the link, but it was on FOX News.

President Obama hasn't been on the campaign trail much this election season, and a story out of Maryland on Sunday suggests that's a good thing for Democratic candidates' prospects. When Obama spoke at a campaign event for gubernatorial candidate Anthony Brown, many rally attendees walked out.

The crowd of 8,000 was mostly African-American, and they represent a district in which 90 percent of voters supported Obama in his 2012 reelection bid. Nevertheless, audience members left "by the dozen" as Obama's speech progressed.

Sending a message of distancing themselves from the President? With 8,000 people showing up? Don't think so. More likely they had other places to be because it took so long to get in there.

8,000 people show up to hear him speak, wait for hours, then a few dozen leave.

Democratic candidates don't want him around campaigning for them, but democrat voters still like him.

Both factors--dissatisfaction and length of event--must have come into play. It's hard for the OP to argue that people are distancing themselves from Obama when 8,000 people show up and they needed an overflow room to contain them all.

He went to what what is considered a safe district. He is toxic, personna non grata, in most districts where the race may be close.

Can you imagine anyone walking out on a speech of his 6 years ago, especially with a predominately black audience? Whooee!!

I don't imagine Obama, with his enormous ego, is happy about it, whether it was "dozens" or "hundreds". For him to comment on it during his talk tells us how upset he was.
