Whitetail, turkey, coyotes and woodchucks. It's always woodchuck season. :thumbsup: Black bear are making a return to Central New York but they aren't varmits, I have no intention of eating one and I already have a rug so I leave 'em be.

 

Scattergun bird hunter only....Woodcock provide the greatest skill while stocked pheasant are easy as you can generally pick them off in a cornfield. Duck & geese, not so much.

My wife will kill me but Im secretly searching for a gun dog. I was going to get a german short hair but her uncle tells me the Britney are better for my type of hunting. Ive had an Irish setter as a ute but the brambles were bad on his silky hair....so though I particularly like spaniels, Im gravitating towards the German short hair. Problem is I also have 3 bulldogs & dont know how they will interact.

I also want to get a smaller 20 Gage double barrel--any suggestions on manufacturers. I gave my 12 G Ithaca pump to my nephew so I need a good dependable field shotgun for bird. Maybe something I can pass down to my son.

 

I donate my Black Bear meat to the Hutterites. They smoke it and turn into a ham-like meat.
