Here's another worthy (though secular) fund one can donate to. The foundation also matches every donation 50 cents on the dollar. Plus, none of the money goes to administrative expenses. Every dollar goes to where it is needed.

It is a wholly volunteer operation, too. 100% of your donation will go to food and materials. How many organizations can say that?

American Baptist churches USA also have a mission
"One Great Hour of Sharing" that 100% will go to the needy. The ABmen disaster relief team is already there. You can go to www.abc-usa.org for more info.

 

Southern Baptist Relief is already there helping, chaplains, food, it is amazing.

I do not recommend giving money to a secular fund because how then can Jesus get the glory?

Also, they tend to have a higher administrative cost percentage than Christian groups. So more of your money will get to the victim.

 

If you are IFB and don't want to participate in the more denominationally oriented funds, the fbf also is coordinating relief funds and material.

I have heard that Tri-city Baptist Church in Kansas City is also coordinating and preparing for rebuilding projects through a camp that they operate in LA, but there is no info on their website yet. I'll send any information out that I get.

 

Says who? Jesus can get the glory as he pleases. I donate to the American Cancer Society, and I've seen Jesus get lots of glory.

That's a generalization, shown not to be necessarily accurate. The fund I linked to in the earlier posts matches donations 50%, meaning if you donate a dollar, the actual donation is $1.50. Plus, their none of he money donated goes to administrative costs, which means just every penny donated, plus another 50%, goes directly to the cause. I checked them out thoroughly prior to posting, and have seen them do great work locally in other situations. That is why I shared the link with everyone here.

I encourage people to provide links to any other charities that they feel are worthy of donating to. People are free and welcome to give as the Holy Spirit directs them to. There is no need to turn this thread into a "my charity is better than your charity" arguement.
