    Hey Brothers and Sisters:

Anyone care to comment on this passage? In reference to those who have "fallen asleep" and the ressurection of the physical body. This kind of goes with my other post on "soul sleep". I do not believe in it because I see it as unbiblical, but I would like some of you that have been in God's Word longer to please comment on this.. The thousand years, the coming of Christ, the ressurection of the body.......

    Thanks.....

    God Bless!

Those who have fallen asleep simply means those who are dead in Christ. Christians never truly die, for to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. And Jesus said "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live." John 11:25

It is a means of saying that the believer's body sleeps in death, until the resurrection.

Thanks for the reply brother. I know that to "fall asleep" simply means to die. It was, to my understanding, used as a comforting way of saying dead or died. I think my main concern now is that of the actual ressurection of the earthly body. In v52 it seems to be referring to when the rapture occurs that those that have "fallen asleep" shall have their physical bodies arise first. Is that correct? I'm not too good with eschatology. I went to a few lectures on it when I was working on my BS. Lately I have been trying to study it more.

Anyone know of any good, reliable texts by sound authors??????

ut, use the clearer passage to explain the obscure passsage. ;) I Thess 4 gives a more detailed statement of this truth.

Paul referred to those believers in Thess. as being asleep (vss 13-14). Their spirits were with Christ and their bodies were sleeping in the ground. Vss 16-17 give the order and details of the resurrection we call the rapture:
    * Lord will descend - voice, shout, trump
    * Dead in Christ shall rise first (bodies)
    * Living saved will be taken body and spirit w/o dying

Remember the dead have 6 feet further to go, so it only makes sense they will be taken before the living. Besides it might get crowded on the way up otherwise. :D :D

    Hey Circuitrider,

Thanks for your reply! Good interpretation. Simple if you think about it. Sometimes I think people make things more difficult than they really are and others try to use it too simply.

I appreciate your reply. Thanks alot.

    God Bless you!

I Corinthians 15:51-- Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed

Must be the official nursery workers' verse.
