I've noticed one thread after another, attacking the teachings of Dr. John MacArthur. I didn't get the memo, but are we waging war on MacArthur's teachings?

Just the Calvinist haters. But nothing new about that.

If you take the time to read the threads, you will find they have no ground.

Not me, he is one of my favorite preachers. Right beside John Piper and Paul Washer.

==It seems like there is an attempt by certain anti-Lordship, anti-Calvinist folks to discredit John MacArthur. I suspect the reason for that is his general popularity which makes him an easy target.

    Martin,

    1. For those who have read and listened to MacArthur know that his motto is this: "I concentrate on the depth of my ministry and God has taken care of the breath of it."

    2. Are the attacks warranted? Some would think so while others would not.

    3. You are right. His popularity has breathed antagonism among some.

    4. I have no problem if someone wants to take on MacArthur because of something he has written but that person must be a responsible researcher. I frankly speaking, I see little evidence on that.

    to funny.

It was more like passing around a shoe.

If it fits....wear it. If not....why worry?

    Wait....hold on. Stop the presses!!
Are you claiming I was talking about you? If so...I guess it fit.

The memo was sent by 'snail mail', carried by an actual snail!

It should arrive in a couple of years. ;)

Like you do with Scripture, you are reading into something that is not there. My statement was made in jest, as you said the same thing about me in another thread. I didn't think you were talking about me, nor do I really care, to be quite honest.

If it is that simple, and if we are talking cyber-shoes
and NOT physical-shoes -- please send me three
    left shoes. Thank you.

I'm catching up from traveling but haven't seen the threads yet. I love MacArthur. He's one of my favorites to quote - even more than Piper ;)

Everyone has been asking for left shoes...sorry.

I do have 3 unifoot shoes. One size fits all, and fits both sides. :)

    Send your money to James@unifoot.com

for me, it is one size fits my big mouth...

I didn't get the memo either, but it seems to have been passed around. I keep thinking about the Disciples stopping someone from talking about Christ because they didn't follow them (Mark 9:38 ff). Jesus's answer was that someone who is not against us is for us. I'll save all my bullets for the real enemy, there's enough of them around.

Patience, guys and girls! The snail is on a trip already from Ed Edwards in OK, to CA for TCGreek. [IMG]

(We couldn't find any passenger pigeons to send it with, considering they have been extinct for a century, and the Pony Express is no longer in business!)

It will take about another 7 years for the snail to make it back to FL with the memo, as he is aready moving as fast as he can ooze!

(Not to mention, he has to wait for a half-hour opening in traffic, just to cross the street!)

Look for the memo to arrive on Jan. 13, 2015, give or take two months!

    Caveat:
I actually like both Jarthur001 & Dr. John MacArthur.
It is a whole new paridiam in the
    21st Century (2001-2100): people expect
shorter sermons. A five point sermon like
Calvin preached is out of the question nowdays.
2 points on Sunday Morning and the 3rd point
saved for Sunday Evening is ALL the current
pastors can get away with (in public - one can
preach 16 point sermons at home, if one
does it in private with all other adults /if any/
    concenting thereinto).

I hear a lot of complaining from preachers
about this new way of doing things.
But consider we poor laymen -- we
have to preach our sermons in the time
it takes to shake a hand!

    Ed's short, hand shake sermons:

    1. Good morning, Prince Jarthur001.
If you are saved by Jesus that makes you
a son of a King. Sons of Kings are
    called 'Prince'.

    2. Heaven lasts forever. Be sure to get
a good seat -- you'll be in it a long time.

    3. /left to the student for practice/

TC -- JM's eaching is "nuanced" Calvinism, is it not? He's taking Calvinism and "embellishing" the "P" - perserverance. But Calvinism by any other name (like "Lordship Salvation") is still Calvinism.

==Actually Lordship Salvation is believed by many non-Calvinists, just like eternal security is believed by many non-Calvinists.

==Certainly it is ok to disagree with MacArthur's teachings (etc). However the problem comes in when people start claiming that he is trying to hide what he really believes (etc). I have seen that so many times. Anyone who listens or reads MacArthur knows he does not hide anything.
