    I got my invitation!

So who is all going! I got Shot Gun! [IMG]

    Good friends.
    Yummy barbecue.
    Convenient location.
And a cause you care about.

If you're going to the CBF General Assembly in Charlotte, enjoy a North Carolina Barbecue on Thursday evening, June 26, 5-7 p.m., sponsored by Associated Baptist Press.

It will be an informal, lighthearted gathering just prior to the opening session of the General Assembly. Since the dinner will be right in the Charlotte Convention Center, in the break time between the state/regional meetings and the general session, it will be really convenient for you. And with a price you won't find anywhere else nearby ($12), what's not to like?

    Speakers:

Brian McLaren, author of A New Kind of Christian. Brian is a bright, new leader and thinker. You can read about him in the January issue of FaithWorks. http://www.faithworks.com/articles/articles1.htm

George Mason, pastor of Wilshire Baptist Church in Dallas. George is a popular speaker and leader in CBF circles and co-chair of ABP's Dateline:Tomorrow campaign.

Trennis Henderson, editor of the Western Recorder of Kentucky. You will be laughing out loud at Trennis' unusual perspective on Baptist life. He promises to be memorable if not amusing.

Marv Knox, editor of the Baptist Standard of Texas. He will try to maintain some sense of dignity and order for the evening, but he also has a funny side.

Also music and entertainment. And no pitch for money!

Come celebrate the ministry of Associated Baptist Press and enjoy the fellowship of good friends. Call or email us to reserve your spot.

    BBQ with ABP
    Thursday, June 26, 5-7 p.m.
    Charlotte Convention Center, Ballrooms A&B
$12 per person at the door, reservations advised

Sherrie I make a trip to Charolette about once a year. Are you traveling all the way from Missori? I know I mispelled that but I'm to tired to correct it. I wouldn't know the correct spelling anyway. I won't be able to go, but thanks for invinting me.

Missouri...Abby. This BBQ is on my birthday. I think they might be having this in honor of me. What do you think? 24...on the 26th. Whew! Who would have thought!

Sorry you can't make it Abby. Maybe next year.

Refresh my feeble mind, Sherrie - is the CBF the ultra liberal bunch that have pretty much left (for all practical purposes) the Southern Baptist? [no bias intended, of course! :D ]

Or is this some other group I've yet to villify??

That is right near my house, but I probably could care just a little bit less about going. Except that I might consider going for the freebies.

Aside from that I will be headed to the Ukraine then.

    Sherrie,

I think it sounds like a great party.

I've a doctor's appointment the next day and I think I better keep that.

Sherrie--I like conventions---the CBF'er will probably be a small scaled SBC'er--I like going to the SBC'er 'cause on the display floor there are all kinds of company's giving away free stuff---ink pens, magnets, balloons, pencils, fingernail files and clippers, trash bags with company logos---One time I was at the Mississippi Baptist Convention---brousing all the business booths--the Baptist Youth department had a doughnut giveaway along with cheezes and crackers and hot chocolate and cokes---almost as good as the B-B-Q you're invitin' us to---But I'll have to pass up Charlotte cause we're havin' a Birthday party over at the coffee shop for some lady there that doesn't look a second over 20---hope you can come!! Its the same week as the Charlotte thing--

    Your buddy,
    Blackbird
