I Will Vote for President Bush Next Tuesday

I was totally shocked last night to learn that Arkansas' 6 electoral votes are in play. President Bush is in serious, serious trouble. He could very easily lose this race in Arkansas and nationwide in enough States to give Senator Kerry the presidency, especially if the Democratic Party efforts at vote fraud succeed.

I detest the neocons and the direction they have steered American foreign policy in the the Bush administration. I detest the liberalism that has been the domestic hallmark of the Bush presidency.

But I also cannot sit by and watch a self-admitted war criminal such as John Kerry and his snooty wife gain power. I cannot allow someone who lied about my brother's and brother-in-law's honorable service in Vietnam become commander-in-chief of my two great nephews who recently joined the Army. I cannot sit by and watch Hillary Clinton become the next chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. I cannot sit by and watch the candidate of Michael Moore and the Hollywood elite gain ascendency.

My apologies to Michael Peroutka and the Constitution Party.

Since I did not vote early, the situation now on the ground in Arkansas demands that I vote for George W. Bush come next Tuesday.

I'll be seeing our President this evening about two miles from my house on the farm where my brother lives. There's a big rally with 10-14K expected in Pennsylvania's Bucks County.

Thank you, Ken. I mean that. The idea of John Kerry being the President of the United States is a scary one. Parital abortion, the funding of emryonic stem cell research, the appointing of what they're saying may be 2-4 Supreme Court Justices are major reasons to vote against Kerry. I wish more voters for Michael Peroutka would see that.

God bless Michael Peroutka, but we need the votes for George W. Bush this election.

You don't have to agree 100% down the line with your candidate on the issues. What is important to me is the war on terror, the appointing of justices, the ban on funding embryonic stem cell research, partial birth abortion and abortion all together. That may be well and noble. But the truth is that either 1. George Bush will be President, or 2. John Kerry will be President. And while this country sinks into moral decay, that is if Kerry gets elected, you can sit around and brag about your honor while we all suffer the consequences of your decision.

I would rather not let fear be the motivation for my vote. We survived eight years of Clinton, and four years of Bush and we will survive four years of either Bush or Kerry.

Good point. If Kerry did get elected wouldn't his warring with the conservative majority at least slow the erosion down and maybe in the meantime get more conservatives to look at what is happening? It seems to me that more and more Christians are getting increasingly concerned with the policies being put in place. I would appreciate everyone's thoughts on that.

THE LESSER OF TWO EVILS?

Some evangelicals admit that the Republican Party is far from ideal. And this is true. No candidate, system of government, or policy is going to be perfect. We live in a fallen world. Yet curiously enough, many Christians want to vote for the GOP because it is the “lesser of two evils.” I recall discussing this issue extensively during the 1996 campaign. Dole is better, I argued, because he’s less evil than Clinton.

But choosing the lesser of two evils is still a choice for evil. Let me give you an example. Suppose I felt compelled to choose between stealing a Diet Pepsi at the local gas station, and committing murder. It might be said that stealing the beverage would be “less evil.” (The punishments meted out by the state for petty thefts are less severe, I may not have jail time, I can pay the store back the $1.19 without taking out a loan, etc.) But no Bible-believing evangelical Christian would encourage me to steal instead of murder. They would exhort me to obey the Word of God and neither murder nor steal.

Thankfully, there are other options available to us. The temptation to choose evil, whether it be in practical daily life, or in the ballot box, need not be indulged. In either case, God has provided a way of escape.
