When using Internet Explorer 7.....if I try to close one of the tabs, I get the box that pops up and says "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close." I then choose "Send Error Report" or "Don't Send", and Internet Explorer closes.

The same thing happens when I click a link that opens up a new browser window.....when I try to close it, I get the error message and Internet Explorer shuts down.

I've tried removing and re-installing IE several times, but I still keep getting the same thing.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Yes, download FIrefox.
    www.getfirefox.com

Still better than IE, even after the 7 release.

I'll be looking for a response,
    I too had this problem.

And I fixed it by uninstalling IE7 using Foxfire

Actually, I mainly use Avant Browser, and I love it. http://www.avantbrowser.com/

Never cared that much for FireFox.....but looking at IE7, I think I would like it (if only it would work properly  )

    Thanks anyway.

I uninstalled IE7 and went back to using IE6. I was having too many problems with it.

Isn't Avant just a wrapper for IE?

I actually use Safari, which I believe is the best browser but it only works with Mac OS X.

Actually, I'm not sure. It's connected to it in some ways, I do know that. But it has many of the features of Firefox. I just like the way it's designed...I've really liked it since the first time I used it, and never had any problems with it at all.

I just got finished reinstalling my work PC and after all the updates, I am using IE 7. I may give it a shot, but so far I think I still prefer firefox. It seems a little clunky even compared to IE 6. But maybe it will grow on me.

Avant is IE at the core. No matter what color you paint a Yugo, it is still a Yugo underneath.

Can't beat FF, especially with all the extensions available.

I believe your problem is related to browser addons. You can get it going and look around by going to

    Start> Programs> Accessories> System Tools> Internet Explorer (no addons)

    Personally, I prefer Opera

    http://www.opera.com

Firefox, while pretty good, can end up leaking memory causing you problems over time, Opera is much better behaved.

I hope this helps and God bless.

Well, I don't understand it, but you are absolutely right. I tried it the way you suggested and it seems to work perfectly. Thanks!

Right after installing IE7 I too experienced frequent error problems causing the browser to close and the "send" the error report message to microsoft appearing. Cleaning up the Registry running Registry Mechanic seemed to help alittle bit.

I like Firefox. If IE7 keeps acting up I'll switch. I'll have to try Opera too.

Trotter: I finally installed FireFox, but I've lost all my passwords!

I will try it for a couple of days, but right now, I'm not happy having to remember which password I used where!

I finally got fed up with IE7 and downloaded Firefox. Wow, what a difference! I am keeping IE7 for those few sites that I really need it for (like because it remembers my password hehehe). One message board I belong to does not display the colors right and the messages are unreadable. But other than that, it sure works so much better.
