Let's say you won a story contest and the prize was $500, what would you do with the money?

It happened to me-- at a casino the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Well, my net gain was $481. I just let it be my pocket cash through the month of December, which has made it so that I can pay my taxes at the end of January all out of my regular bank account.

last month some money did fall in my lap, $1,200. inheritance from my dad's share of the family farm. He died in 1977, but his mother died 2 years ago. (it all goes back to his fathers will, it's all messed up). bought a new bible, a few christian books, some clothes(since I can't wear any of my old ones from weight loss), and finally found a few new pair of shoes that weren't made for 20 yr olds, and afew craft supplies, but not much on that. Got a good bit left, according to my husband I am not allowed to spend it on anything but me since it was my dad's, and it's really the only thing I've ever gotten from him, after his death his family acted like we didn't exist.
I did however sneak in a small gift apiece for my grandkids and step grandkids.

Now if it weren't related to this inheritance at all we'd use it to pay off the stove we bought last summer because my last one died a horrorable firey death.

R.Bell..I just noticed your "pish tosh". You say it means nothing, but in England it means contemptable rubbish. Pish is an expression of contempt and tosh means rubbish.

    Cheers,

    Jim

I would give money to the church out of it.
I would buy my mom some shoes and a dress.
I would use some of it on my house.
I might even pay off a debt with it.

If money fell in my lap right now, I would look up, possibly start tearing the ceiling apart looking for more!

I had $3000 dollars one time mailed to me...

    That was a nice surprise.

Anyone want to surprise me again?

Naw. I haven't won anything. It's wishful thinking at this point. I did send in a story, one that I am quite proud of. It's about the birth of our second child, born with a disability. I feel that our testimony could be an encouragement to so many who may be going through the same thing.

    Ok, my turn to asnwer...

As silly as it sounds, I'd order some things online. I'd buy a cherry pitter, apple peeler/corer, seeds of herbs, flowers, and veggies, and books. If I had enough left, I'd buy a steamer/juicer. I borrowed my friend's this harvest and it is a MUST HAVE for every canning kitchen. Oh but there are so many other things I dream of---a crock pot, a pressure canner, a chest freezer, oh the list could go on and on and on. First, though, I have to have a kitchen. That would help. LOL!!!
