Wow! I am impressed .... our neighbors to the south of us--you know the ones that continue to let neighbors to their south cross unimpeded by America and even allow their own citizens to cross into America unimpeded--had the guts to turn away a cruise ship with one man who may or may not have had Ebola on board.

Mexico is either a nation of hypocrites ... or they are willing to protect their citizens at all costs!

So, maybe Mr. Obama should take note and at least quarantine all visitors coming to America from infected countries to a minimum of 21 days!

Do you agree that Obama should take a lesson from Mexico and protect US citizens at all costs, or continue to let the ball spin on the wheel and see what number it lands on?

This is known as the ala carte method of policy making. Find another country that has a policy that sounds reasonable and if the U.S. does not follow it then point out, "well, this country does this, shouldn't we?"

What is good for country X might not be good for the United States. Conversely, there is bound to be a policy that the U.S. has implemented that country X has not adopted.

Also, the situation with a cruise ship is different than an airplane flight. People are on cruise ships for days, sometimes weeks. That is plenty of time for ebola to spread. Also, they have a passenger on board that may have handled ebola specimens. Being on a cruise ship is essentially being isolated and quarantined, so best thing to do is keep everyone on the ship. This is a vastly different situation than indiscriminately turning away planes because they are coming from a country with an outbreak.

In any event, you are jumping the gun again. The ship is headed for Galveston Texas, due on Sunday. Let's see what the United States does then.

Does Mexico seek to fight this disease or just turn it away? We are bringing our ill citizens back to the US to treat - and so far, all of them that we have brought home have survived. I believe the right thing to do with that patient was to bring him in to a secure hospital and find out what we really are dealing with. Is it ebola? The actively fight it including watching the others on board the ship. Instead, Mexico made it someone else's problem. I'm glad the US isn't facing this epidemic that way.

Denial is not a state to be in when it comes to dangerous diseases like ebola.

The Lab supervisor got off and went home.

The whole thing was a farce perpetrated by a stupid announcement made by the CDC and the news media creating a panic in order to increase sales.

On October 14, after she was already on the ship (which sailed on the 12th), the CDC issued an advisory updating their requirement for monitoring all persons working in the Lab at Presbyterian Hospital. The women in question was a lab supervisor and thus fell under the CDC guidelines. She voluntarily quarantined herself.

After her blood was checked it was found that she did not have ebola virus in her system. The CDC worded the new guidelines incorrectly. They should have said "lab technicians" not "lab personnel." She was a supervisor. She sat in an office and shuffled paperwork all day. She did not come in contact with any patient. She did not process any of the blood samples containing ebola!

Just more stupid sensationalism coupled with ignorant panic.
