CA Supreme court overturns gay marriage ban...
    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080515/ap_on_re_us/gay_marriage

Once again our liberal courts have ruled against God, and in this case the people's will...

Take a look at the devastation in China, and you will see what is going to happen to San Francisco. God is not playing games people.

If you are in CA... MOVE!

Of course, I am sure Hillary and Obama are delighted to see this happen.

Wait a sec. I thought it was a FEDERAL law that gays couldn't marry, so how can a STATE overturn a FEDERAL law??? Am I mistaken here?

I don't think it is a federal law...
That is one thing I have against McCain, he refuses to support a federal amendment banning it.

Tim when were the verses about "the fields white unto harvest. pray ye therefore the Lord to send out laborers", the Great Commission, and to be a "witnesses unto the uttermost parts of the world" amended to read except for California?

The law is that the federal government does not recognize gay marriages and declares that states are not required to recognize gay marriages from other states. Although I oppose gay marriage, I think that this law is unconstitutional and will eventually be overturned.

If we want to stop gay marriage, only a US constitutional amendment will accomplish it. Otherwise, we'll eventually have gay marriage in all fifty states.

That being said, I don't think we would have the support to pass a federal amendment, so we might as well get used to gay marriage, unfortunately.

It wouldn't matter. An amendment would never get sufficient support across the country.

We'd need 3/4 of the states. 38 states. If 13 reject the proposal, it's sunk.

States that would probably not pass it (not an exhaustive list):

    1) Washington
    2) California
    3) Maine
    4) Vermont
    5) New Hampshire
    6) New York
    7) Connecticut
    8) Rhode Island
    9) Massachusetts
    10) New Jersey
    11) Pennsylvania
    12) Delaware
    13) Washington

A few others might not pass it, either.

You aren't God. You aren't even Jonah.

Maybe if you posted as much decrying divorce among heterosexuals your posts on this subject would have some credibility.

That is one of the few things I agree with Senator McCain on. We have federalist system left to us by the Founding Fathers and I want to see it maintained.

Well, mcdirector, we Christians spend so much time worrying about homosexuals marrying instead of dealing with the sad state of heterosexual marriage in this country, even among Christians, even among Baptists, even within our own local churches.

Two different subjects. Credibility is quite in tact.

Well, mcdirector, some folks in this forum and the politics forum like to dish it out. Maybe we'll find out if they can take it or if they have a glass jaw. :)

Yeah, but you don't hear the divorce crowd wanting to make it a hate crime when I preach against divorce from the pulpit. But, the time is coming when it will be a crime to preach against or possibly to even speak against homosexuality. (It will happen with a democratic president and a democratic house and senate) Divorced people aren't' trying to force an agenda on the United States. They aren't crying for civil rights. They aren't trying to force me to acquiesce to their view point. Yet, the gay rights folks are.

Is this comment debate or a challenge for what?

As I think more about this issue, again it isn't about gay marriage. Very few ever marry. Their lifestyle is to move from one partner to another. Longevity in relationships is very rare. No, it's not about marriage. It's just one more step towards forcing the homosexual lifestyle and all its trappings down the throat the people of the United States.
