I am not sure if this is the place to post this query, so please feel free to move it if necessary.

Following comments in another thread elsewhere, I would like to know the difference between IFB and Reformed Baptists. I too thought they were the same.

    Blessings

Most Reformed baptists are calvinistic in their doctrine. I say most rather than all, because I generic as the terminology is there could be some that choose the term not knowing what it would normally imply.

not all Independent Fundamentalist Baptists (IFB) are calvinistic.

By IFB do you mean Independent Fundamental Baptist? If so, they are not the same.

Yes, I do mean Independent Fundamental Baptists. In what way would you say they differ?

Sheila, some throw these initials around as if we are all Americans. I live closer than you, and I haven't a clue who they all are, or if they are even Baptists, from what I read here.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Calvinism would be a dividing factor, though there may be an IFB church that might buy into it. Ours does not.

I've never heard our church mention, much less support, the 17th century London Baptist Confession of Faith. We speak of being a New Testament church.

However, I speak only of my congregation and pastors who have visited and preached.
