    I'm Proud To Serve

    Washington, Roosevelt, Eisenhower and Lee
All these men fought so we could be free

Now I'm a GI trying to do the same
To fight for a Country who has a great name

We fight wars far away from own homes
but the tears seem to fall, when we're all alone

Seems all that we do is going to waste
the marches and riots slap us in the face

People really don't seem to care
They shoot out a peace sign underneath all their hair

If only they knew what it means to serve
A country who's able to stand up to their word

The United States Army fights for you and me
To keep communist out of the Land of the Free

    Freedom, Love, Justice, and Peace
Yes! The United States Army fights for all of these

I am appreciative of all who fight, which includes many of my own family.

That doesn't mean that everything this country fights for is right. I take issue with this piece of poetry for that reason. Do we really fight for love? peace?

Golly I hope so, if I was called to defend my new adopted country or the folk across the ditch I would, it is for love of my homeland, where the folk I love live, my culture etc.

It sure aint for governments or politics.

Amen! And I want to thank all those men who have died to protect my freedom which made my "passing thru" much easier.
