In the past I have talked with many christians and pastors that believe in an Immortal Soul.....In other words the minute you die your soul goes to Heaven to be with God.My question is this...How can you believe in the Resurrection of the dead and at the same time claim to have an Immortal Soul?

At death, our bodies are not translated to be with God (unless it happens at thr Rapture). Our soul is immediately ushered into one of two destinations: the presence of God (for believers), or hell (for unbelievers). We will not have our glorified bodies until Christ comes for His own, when the dead in Christ rise up to meet Him in the air. At that point our mortal, fleshly bodies will be clothed in immortal, glorified bodies like unto Jesus's.
Man was created to live forever back in Genesis. When Adam and Eve fell, their spirits died within them. All mankind are born spiritually dead, and remains so until indwelt by the Spirit of God (at salvation). The soul of man never dies, except for the judgement at the great white throne (it is called death, but is eternal damnation in the lake of fire).
Our bodies begin to die soon after conception, and continue to die until it claims us (thus is the effect that sin has wrought upon our world). At death, our soul and flesh are seperated, and are not rejoined until Christ's appearing (unbelievers remain in hell until the end of time to be resurrected for final judgement).
