I would like to hear some views on the subject of impeachment. First let me tell you a little about me. I guess that I would be considered a hard core conservative. I voted for President George Bush. I do not believe in abortion for any reason. I do not believe in using stem cells from aborted babies or from embryos. I hold that there is only one way to heaven and that being repentance towards God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. I do not believe that a real Christian will return to practice sin, and thhat today only about 30 to 35% of those who claim to be saved really are. And I hold many more views of the same.

I say all that so that no one thinks that I am a liberal against the now President from the start. But I do have a question. Looking at this nation and seeing what is being done to our rights makes me ask some questions. Should President Bush and or Vice president Chaney be impeached for crimes against the constitution? What are your views?

If Bush or Cheney should be impeached, the amount of time left in office makes that impractical. As to whether Bush should have been impeached at an earlier date, who knows? A disagreement in policy is not an impeachable offense. a crime is.

I also voted for Bush twice. Never again will I vote for a liberal-Bush like candidate.

One point needs to be made. Those on the left never liked Bush. People like me (and probably you) do not like Bush because he betrayed every conservative and moral cause we can think up. Pandering to Christians for votes is the worst thing about the whole situation. While we and the left are on the same side of this issue, it is for an entirely different reason.

I think the talk of impeachment right now is just the democrats in Congress trying to get the attention off of the fact that they have lower poll numbers than the President right now. Not only is it impractical this late into his 2nd term, it is pretty ridiculous also.

Like you guys, i too voted for GWB in both 2000 and 2004, and i'm actually pretty glad i don't have to consider voting for him again. I have supported him through thick and thin...but he has all but abandoned those of us who elected him.

Yes, they are enemies of humanity and of the Constitution they pledged to uphold. Along with other present and former members of the administration, such as Ashcroft, Gonzales, Rice, Rumsfeld and others.

Bottom line is that neither Bush nor Cheney has committed an impeachable offense.

However, consider what the state of our country WOULD HAVE BEEN had the opposition gained the office of POTUS!

Even with Bush's leftist/new world order leanings we are better off than with either Kerry or Gore as POTUS.

Can you just picture the "state of the union" today had "Global Warming" Gore been elected?

Either party (barring a massive conservative resurgence among the citizenry,ordirect intervention by God Himself) is going to lead (HA!) us to the brink os socialistic disaster; it's just that the R's will be a little less aggressive, but nicer in the process.

As to impeachment; well it's obvious that most of the advocates for impeachment have little or no idea just what impechment really is; or maybe it's just hopeful thinking that wishing it so will make it so!!!

Sad state of affairs, so no wonder the gov't is screwed up.

If this is left alone the next president or one to come will have reason to go even further then this administration has. My concern is that we are losing our rights at a very fast rate.

What rights have we lost? All of them. What we think of as rights today are just privileges that can be taken away "at the pleasure of the president". Maybe that's why you can't see what rights we've lost, you've been confusing privileges with rights all along.

We cannnot travel any place outside the US without a passport(this is on hold but only for a few months). Maybe that's why you can't see what rights we've lost, you've been confusing privileges with rights all along.

It seems that it is the other way round. It is you that have been confused.

As for me, I haven't lost any rights at all. None.

Unless you count me having to take off my shoes to board a plane and even getting wanded for no reason seeing how it is better to search every 5th person instead of looking for those who look like terrorists.

Which the U.S. constitution gives the U.S. House the power to decide on the issue of impeachment as to what is a high crime or a misdemeanor:

The House of Representatives shall choose their speaker and other officers; and shall have the sole power of impeachment. - in Article I.

Then, the U.S. Senate decides whether the public official is guilty or not.

I assume you mean "board a plane." I wasn't aware you had a right to board a plane without search. You don't have to be searched. You are allowed to drive. But in any case, being searched before you fly was happening long before this president.

No, not really. The FISA court still approves though. The Bush administration lost on this one, I think.

What right is this? Here's the irony: You don't want to have to prove you are a citizen to enter the country, but you don't want illegal aliens to enter. Without a passport and documentation, how will you know who is illegal and who is legal?

If you want to leave the country, get a passport. It's easy and cheap.

Doesn't happen often, and is reportedly fairly easy to fix. But again, where is the lost right here??

I think that President Bush(and most of the rest of us Americans) were sold a bill of goods by the neo-"conservatives" and he(and we) bought it. The neo-"conservatives" are now trying the same thing about Iran. Let's not buy it this time. Don't be afraid of the neo-"cons".

And the Congress did pass a "war" resolution, so the Congress is just as responsible for the mess in Iraq as is President Bush.
