So that we keep the story in context, although it was buried near the end of the story, I don't want folks to think that this is what all Muslims in Afganistan are about and that there is no sign of a desire for reform:

And yes, for the record, I do think we did the right thing in Afganistan and that the Afgan people are better off now than they were before because of our actions, and the same is true in Iraq.

So, you base your support on the outcome?!? We are not finished in either one yet, but you're jumping on the bandwagon! That's like the Pop Warner kids all want to be the team that won the SB the year before. Everyone's the fan of the winner.

 

And no one wants to be with the loser. That's why the public continues to support our efforts in Afghanistan, and doesn't support the war in Iraq.

They know the difference between a winner and a loser.

 

I'm still trying to figure out why you consider us to be "losing" in Iraq. But, then again, that's about all the MSM prints, so it's not surprising.

I have a friend who came home on leave from Iraq, and he said that he was glad that they didn't have US newspapers over there, because morale would have plummeted. When he came home was the first time that they were even losing, and he still doesn't see it on the ground over there; only in the NY Times and other liberal fish wrappers.

 

It is the liberal Vietnam syndrome. They are trying to cause America to lose the war by demoralizing the troops and the folks back home. They care nothing for the truth or what the consequences of their lies might be.

I have been against the invasion of Iraq since Bush started his sabre rattling. My opposition has nothing to do with the outcome, although I don't know how anyone expected anything different than what we see. I do support our invasion of Afghanistan, as the Taliban was harboring the planners of the 9/11 attacks. If we had stayed focused on that situation, I believe Mr. Bin Laden would be a prisoner of the U.S. today.

 

Where the leaders have no vision the people perish. Or something like that. Who in their right mind would say Mr. Bush has vision? Now I certainly do not fault Mr. Bush for military action in Afghanistan. But I do fault him for taking limited, halfway measure, action in Afghanistan. Iraq is becoming the greatest military blunders of all time.

Since Afghanistan is now a signatory to the Universal Declaration on Human Rights which include, among other things, freedom of religion, one hopes the international community will draw this...*cough* inconsistency to their attention...
