In Moments Like Those! What do you do?

This OP will be one of tremendous transparency because it means admitting before your peers on this board that there are "those moments" in your day, week, month and life that you actually come to the place where you ask yourself is heaven for real? Is God really there? And do I really, truly know that I am saved and forgiven?

I talk to believers all the time who have those moments, and it takes courage to admit momentary lapses in faith or trust. Yet these folks, like me, can admit there are times when we do have some lapse in faith and doubt.

The intent behind this OP is not to out anyone, but rather to have you share what you do to counter those moments and to put the behind you in order to move forward and even closer to God!

I think it's natural to question what is true for anything. Heck, even in marriage we might question "Does my spouse really love me?" even when they show it daily. What we need to do is be immersed in Scripture, be fostering a real relationship with the Lord and when those times of doubt come in, remind ourselves of just how God has worked in our lives in the past. This is where I think it's important to have "monuments to God's faithfulness" in our lives. These can be actual objects, people, notes of what God did, etc. One monument for me is a woman in our church who's life has been changed drastically over the last 4 years. I look at her worshipping on Sunday mornings and my heart is filled with praise to God. Another is looking at my daughter who was healed 4 years ago from a particularly rare tumor in her pancreas. I look through my prayer notes and see where God has worked and where He is still working. I even have small mementos from different occasions where I can look at it and remember the circumstances where I got it.

God is good and no matter what my doubts are, He is faithful. I just need to be reminded of that sometimes!

No sarcasm intended! and I apologize if it was taken that way!

May I suggest that maybe you felt there was (sarcasm) based on your oft attempts at sarcasm towards others!

I often shared with spouses, who felt their loved one was cheating (but could never prove it), that maybe it was transferred guilt based upon their own hearts hidden agenda.

I think what you professed was admirable! :applause:

I only wish that I could be more like you. but I have had, as another person told me in private, fleeting moments of doubt and questions (mostly questions), that have to be resolved by reaffirmed faith. And that is what I was referring to in this OP. Fleeting moments of hesitation, that need to be resolved through Scripture, prayer and knowing that you know, that you know, it is real and of Him! raying:

Ann, I appreciate your candor. That was what I sense so many of us needed to hear. That it is going to happen, and that God is good and faithful until the end, to get us beyond ourselves. After, salvation is based upon a life of growing faith!

Many folk fail to realize that our minds are not regenerated. We think-- we think, and really get confused; but never get so confused in our thinking that we cannot clearly discern the duty of our brethren.

We all need more time in the prayer closet--outside of cyberspace.

God is faithful--even when we are not.
