We are not a democracy, we are a Constitutional Republic whose leaders are elected in a democratic fashion via the vote. After that, our elected representatives should decide things in accordance with the Constitution. As for fools and narcissists (and I would add the word unqualified), we have had many who have occupied the Presidency.
Yep, he's been told that a billion of times already, but Mencken was a big critic of democracy, in particular. It's an old meme that FollowTheTrail probably saw on daily kook or something, saw the same applied to GWB abd Obama.
