Mother Jones is calling the operation behind this Louisiana sinkhole "the biggest ongoing industrial disaster in the United States you haven't heard of." A petrochemical company by the name of Texas Brine has been hollowing out a salt mine beneath Louisiana's Bayou Corne, but the operation got away from them and has resulted in a sinkhole some 24 square miles big and 750 feet deep. While this is certainly dangerous for the community—as the terrifying video shows—the bigger danger is actually an invisible one: the sinkhole has released explosive gasses into the air. All of this has led to one whopper of a lawsuit that Louisiana is filing against Texas Brine, but Texas Brine is saying it wasn't their fault, and all of this is missing the issue at hand: where did that tree go and who's next ...
