Independant Baptist Mission Boards?

Other than BIMI, does anybody have any suggestions for Independant Baptist mission boards?

• International Baptist Missions (this by the way is a ministry of Tri-City Baptist Church, Tempe, AZ)</font>

Local church would be my first vote, but here are a couple more good IFB boards:

Tell me what you mean by "local church". Missions boards are the only method I am familiar with. Now I realize by previous answers that there is some debate on this, so please reply without the "well the Biblical way is this...". All I am looking for is the main differences between the two methods. I am well aware that Paul did not use a mission board.

What type of Missions Ministry are you interested in? Some boards are better suited for one activity than others.
We are supporting missionaries with Fundamental Baptist Missions, Hammond, IN., BIMI, Baptist World Mission, International Board of Jewish Missions (Chattanooga, TN), Bible Baptist Shepherd (Navajo),

Maranatha Baptist Mission, Natchez, MS is an IFB mission.

Re: local church as opposed to mission boards, here are a few things my husband pointed out, aside from the scriptural guidelines:

-The pastor oversees the missionaries

-Missionaries receive 100% of the support sent to them - none taken out for administrative expenses, etc.

-Missionaries are accountable directly to their pastor and home church

-Property bought by the mission church on the field belongs to that church, not a mission board

Not an exhaustive list, obviously. We are sent directly out of our local church, but both sets of our parents go through excellent mission boards (the two I listed!). We don't personally have a problem with most IFB mission boards, but because our pastor firmly believes that all missionaries should be local church, we have placed ourselves under his authority.

The mission board could also depend upon the missionaries philosophy and also their sending church.
Word For The World our of Rossville/Ft.Ogilthorpe, Ga. is and has been an excellant Ind. Baptist Mission Agency.

Many local churches act as a sending agency for missionaries. I support missionaries from Missions agencies and also local churches.

Many missions boards become denominational and controlling. I am too Independent for that.

BIMI has been very good also.

One other benefit of the local church model is that the Mission Board is NOT a New Testiment organization. The church is. Boards are great though for small churches to participate in missions.

Fundamental Baptist Home Missions, Maranatha, and BIMI are the ones a lot of our missionaries are with.
We are a small church, so we usualy go through the mission board, however we usualy have them come in and tell about were they are going and what they are doing on the feild, and then decide wheither or not to suport that specific missionary. I'm not really sure how another church does it.

No, absolutely not!

We are sponsored by our local church, which supports us for a much larger amount than other churches, but we are supported by many other churches. Support is raised the same way as under a mission board, but all the support funds come to our church and our church ensures that we get it.

Our pastor and the trustees of our church have drawn up guidelines for our church's sponsored missionaries (those sent directly out of our church - we currently have 7 sponsored missionaries, but our church supports a total of 60 missionaries). These outline the church's responsibilities to the missionary and the missionary's responsibilities to the church. We turn in a financial and activity report every month, and the church issues us an itemized financial report every week of the money that has come in for us the previous week, along with the church names who sent the money, the date of the checks, the amount of the checks, check numbers, and a running total of support for the month.

We travel to churches and present our ministry through slides of our field, our family sings if asked, and my husband usually preaches, teaches, or gives a testimony of his salvation and call to the mission field. Just like missionaries under a board.

BTW, there are some churches who won't support us because we are not under a mission board, and there are some who wouldn't support us if we were!
