Intelligent Atheists?

What do you think of this claim?
Religious people are less intelligent than non-believers, according to a new review of 63 scientific studies stretching back over decades.

A team led by Miron Zuckerman of the University of Rochester found “a reliable negative relation between intelligence and religiosity” in 53 out of 63 studies

Even in extreme old age, intelligent people are less likely to believe, the researchers found - and the reasons why people with high IQs shun religion may not be as simple as previously thought.

Well, what do they mean by intelligent? I believe they mean worldly. In this sense atheists might be more intelligent than religious folks.

The scriptures say God has not chosen many that are "wise after the flesh"

1 Cor 1:26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.

So, I believe "wise after the flesh" would mean worldly. Not many Christians are obsessed with being wealthy, so probably few study or understand complex finances. It is not that they could not study and understand these worldly sciences, it is that they are preoccupied with other things, such as studying their Bible and telling folks about Jesus.

1 Corinthians 1:18-31 18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written,
“I WILL DESTROY THE WISDOM OF THE WISE,
AND THE CLEVERNESS OF THE CLEVER I WILL SET ASIDE.”
20 Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. 22 For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom; 23 but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness, 24 but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
26 For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; 27 but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, 28 and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, 29 so that no man may boast before God. 30 But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, 31 so that, just as it is written, “LET HIM WHO BOASTS, BOAST IN THE LORD.”(EMPHASIS MINE)

There is a wisdom of this world. Those that buy into this worldly wisdom can be extremely intelligent. Richard Dawkins and Stephen Hawking, two eminent atheists, possess superior intellects. However their intellects exclude a theistic world view. It is their deficient wisdom that is described by Paul in 1 Corinthians 1:18-31.

It is far more than that. They are using the scientist/atheist Richard Dawkins as their example.
One comment says:
Yes we are more intelligent because we don't hide behind 'God' abnd use him as an excuse for everything. We actually have to think about what we are doing and come up with a logical reason for things.
It is typical and gives the general sense of the article.

Christians are like anybody else, some are highly intelligent, others are not.

Want to know your IQ? Take this test.

I rushed through it and got 131 without really trying. Last time I took it I scored 142, that is as good as Richard Dawkins.

problem is that the "Athiests" that keep getting claimed are not really that, more either Agnostic or Deist!

Einstein, Edison, even darwin himself NOT true Athiests, and MANY smart persons such as a Newton , Copernicus, or a faraday were all Christians!
