I use earthlink, around whatever a 56 k modem can do.

There is also pcpeople.com netzero.com and probably some local ones in the yellow pages :tongue3: Our local library has it which I use now and then. City and county governments sometimes offer it.

    My ISP history:

    1. Juno (dialup email only)
    2. Juno (paid dialup)
    3. BlueLight (free dialup)
    4. FreeWWWeb (free dialup)
    5. Juno/NetZero (free dialup)
    6. PeoplePC (dialup, free from Ford)
    7. Comcast (cable)
    8. WideOpenWest (cable)
    9. Comcast (cable)
    10. AT&T Yahoo (dsl)
    11. (soon to be) 20|20 Communications WirelessWashtenaw (free wireless for our entire county!)

I'm supposed to get 3000kbps/512kbps but it's more like 1500kbps/300kbps from AT&T. Overall, I've been pleased with the reliability, but displeased with speed and customer service. It's just one huge mess of a company.

WideOpenWest (WOW), in my opinion had the best reliability, speed, and price (probably because there was competition back where i used to live). I only wish they offered it out here.

Latest issue of Consumer Reports has an article on this subject; "100 Best ISPs," or something like that.

    WOW scored really high.

    AOL did not....

    Earthlink Broadband scored well.

    1612 kbps I just tested.

I just switched my ISP from Suddenlink Cable (I had bad experiences with them) to AT&T Yahoo DSL today.

I'm on BellSouth's 1.5M DSL package. Actually DL speed hovers around 1250, so it's not too bad.

I've had several dial-up ISPs before I got DSL... AOL, Earthlink, MSN, Walmart Connect. I liked Earthlink the best, but that ain't saying much.

People PC loads you with spyware....been there done that.
Same with net Zero & Bluelight...don't believe me....check your registry!!
I'm with RoadRunner rite now...with free E-Trust AV/firewall (zonelabs) & pest patrol (anti spyware). It's kept me clean considering I'm online now 24/7. Plus I can , hopefully get a wirless router & connect my wifes laptop at no extra charge.:tongue3:
