hello people!

i have this question:

what would be a better buy? an ipod-mini or a flash disk with mp3 player (say Apacer)? i am not familiar with the pros and cons of one against the other, and i have to know which is a better choice.

please note that ipod is not really that popular at my place, but flash-disks are becoming increasingly common.

i also have this question:

i-pod can also store files such as MS Word documents (that is, windows files and not just macs) to be exchanged with a pc through usb, just like a flash disk, right?

Aki, I don't own an iPod, but they use a hard drive to store tunes. The iPod shuffle has flash memory I believe.

Anyway, I prefer flash memory...no moving parts, and can use mp3, wma, ogg, and other formats.

Tunes on flash memory can be played on a PC, or on a variety of other devices, such as Palm, PocketPC and others.

In my mind, look at your funds available and buy what you like best.

Personal opinion: Like Magnetic's thinking on no moving parts :) I have an old jornda 547 that does all I want to do in the mp3 area. Have two 256 cf cards that I keep filled and works well for me. Not much bigger than ipods, but lots cheaper.

As to the Word files, I don't know for sure but since you are transferring data, don't see why you shouldn't be able to ????

Biggest difference is how much you can carry with you - ipod is better.

I'm waiting until all this is incorporated into my cell phone. I detest having to carry more than one electronic device.

The iPod mini is really just an external hard drive. Do you really need 4 or 6 G for tunes and a few files. As stated above the flash drives have no moving parts and are more stable.

I'll soon be getting a Dell DJ. Once I have it, I'll let you know how it works out. I do know that batteries are not replaceable, so once they are drained, the device is worthless.

Anyone know about Ipod battery replacement possibilities?

Ipod's were the same and there was a customer uprising about it and I heard Ipod were going to change it but don't know if they did or not.

If you can take the thing apart, there is a good chance that you can change it if you can find one. Many of the pocket pcs were made in a way that most people wouldn't change the battery, but a few screws and you can.

There are several battery sources online that might have something that would work.

Actually just checked and ipod batteries are available on ebay :)
