I have noticed since this new President, that Iran
is moving at quite a pace to either help Iraq or
dominate it...what say you? And is Iran co-opting
the United States in the process?

TEHRAN — Former foes Iran and Iraq said Thursday that they would sign a military cooperation agreement that would include Iranian help in training Iraq's armed forces, despite likely U.S. opposition.

"The Iran flour deal came out of the blue, demonstrating the extent of Iran's postwar influence in Iraq, with Tehran not short of friends in the new government," said a trader, adding that the deal was passed by a new cabinet-level committee appointed by Prime Minister Ibrahim Al-Jaafari with the authority to approve major purchases.

Teheran - Iran promised Iraq financial aid amounting to one billion dollars, Iraqi Defence Minister Saadoun al-Dalimi (al-Dulaimi) said Thursday during a three-day visit to Teheran.

Iran asks Iraq to oppose foreign bases building

Just an observation I goggled condi rice ..nothing
out of her mouth ..not a peep. Iran just made
some very quick and its debatable savvy moves.

What would a Iran-Iraq look like? some clues from
the southern shite city of Basra.

The once libertine oil port of Basra, 350 miles south of the capital and far from the insurgency raging in much of Iraq, is steadily being transformed into a mini-theocracy under Shiite rule. There is perhaps no better indication of the possible flash points in a Shiite-dominated Iraq, because the political parties that hold sway here also wield significant influence in the central government in Baghdad and are backed by the country's top clerics.

I could be wrong but I don't believe the U.S.will allow Iran to interfere with helping out the Iraqi military.I think the powers that be from the U.S. will use its' influentual clout to prevent this from happening.
Time will tell though.

Will be interesting to see how thick the strings are attached to Iraq's sovereignty by the COTW. Good Point ASLANSPAL.

Actually he is going Saturday but his advanced
team is there already.

Baghdad, 12 July (AKI) - Iraqi prime minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari has confirmed that he will visit Tehran next Saturday, according to the Iranian news agency IRNA. Al-Jaafari is quoted as telling the Iranian charge d'affaires in Baghdad that he was confident his visit would improve relations between the two neighbours. Nine Iraqi government ministers are due in the Iranian capital on Tuesday to prepare for al-Jaafari's visit.

From the Iranian point of view, such a high level delegation from Baghdad is considered a 'turning point' in bilateral relations between Iran and Iraq, who were at war from 1980-1988.

During an historic visit to Tehran last week the Iraqi defence minister, Saadoun al-Dalimi, signed accords with his Iranian counterpart agreeing to cooperate more in border security and the fight against terrorism.

Tehran has committed to providing one billion dollars for the reconstruction of Iraq, after al-Dalimi, made a formal apology for the war crimes committed under the former regime of Saddam Hussein.

[IMG]Whose side is he on? or is he playing both sides?

not a peep from bush or condi..condi did give
russia a compliemnt on how they are conducting
nuclear technology to Iran though.

And we have been very clear that we do not see the need for civilian nuclear power in Iran, but for instance, we have taken note of the way that Russia has safeguarded or intends to safeguard the Bushehr nuclear reactor, making certain that there is assured fuel supply but a take-back provision to diminish proliferation risks.

So we will continue to consult with our European colleagues as they move forward.

We did not invade Iraq because:

1. they had WMD's
2. Iraq might one day develope nuclear weapons.
3. Saddam Hussein was evil.
4. Saddan Hussein supported al Qaeda.
5. Iraq was a threat to America.
6. US wanted to establish democracy.

We did invade Iraq because:

1. Protection of Israel against her enemies.
2. US imperialism.
3. Plunder its great oil reserves.
4. Personal vendetta by Bush against Saddam.
5. Staging area to invade Iran and Syria.

The Muslim world increasingly views George Bush’s America as set on a crusade against Muslims everywhere, a view reinforced by U.S. attacks on Libya, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, Somalia, Sudan, and Afghanistan over past two decades.

Iran and Iraq are forming an alliance to protect themselves against the imperialistic USA.

Why should anyone be surprised? Bush's friend and frequent WH guest, Chalabi, is both an Iranian agent and highly placed in the new Iraqi Government.

I do not love my country or the world, judgement day is coming for the people in power who deceive American citizens and the peoples of the world. I'm not a citizen of this world, I belong to the Lord.

I am grateful to the Lord that he has placed me in a nation that does not persecute me for my faith in Christ, that I have freedoms and opportunities not available in other countries. This nation is wealthy and has been blessed by the Lord because the main body of the Church lives here. By God's design conditions in America are conducive to the propagation of the gospel through out the world.
After the Church is taken out of the world, severe judgment will come upon the arrogant deceivers of this nation who trample truth to the ground and destroy the earth.

"Because (America has) plundered many nations, the peoples who are left will plunder you. For you have shed man's blood; you have destroyed lands and cities and everyone in them. Woe to him who builds his realm by unjust gain to set his nest on high, to escape the clutches of ruin! You have plotted the ruin of many peoples, shaming your own house and forfeiting your life (NIV, Hab. 2:8-10).

"Fallen! Fallen is (America) the Great! She has become a home for demons and a haunt for every evel spirit, a haunt for every unclean and detestable bird. For all the nations have drunk the maddening wine of her adulteries. The kings of the earth committed adultery with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries" (Rev. 18:2-3).

God hates this nation, so do I.

Dear Prophecynut,
You have options.Since you hate this country I would suggest you find a country other than America to live in.There are no chains holding you down and we certainly do not want you to be unhappy. My best wishes to you in your search for a new home.

Present day Basra was near the scene where Daniel had his vision in Chapter 8.

Iran/Iraq united is part of the old Medes-Persian empire.

prophecynut, I'll be going with you when the trumpet sounds and so will a lot of others. [IMG]

BTW, I do believe Rev. 18 is not referring to the US, but maybe to the UN. And it would not surprise me at all if one day the UN headquarters moves to Baghdad/Babylon. [IMG]

I think this story is being under reported ..
major..major...money and resources are being
exchanged with Iran and Iraq...now remember
everyone the bush speech...the "Axis of evil"
who was on the list.

But not a peep ..not a sound ..from INCOMPETENT
CONDI RICE!...and I don't care if she is blue,
red, purple or grey she is all about hollywood
and fluff.

I wrote this a couple of days ago because I thought it would be merciful to give her a chance
after a few days but now it has been a over a
week!

Condi Rice does not even utter a word about the
mega deals between Iran-Iraq for a whole week
now but she sure has time to condemn India about
Iranian/Iraqi crude...just plain weird she is
not even on the same page..or she ignores the
major to focus on a minor ...INCOMPETENT! and I don't care if she is green, purple, or yellow she
gave china a pass this week...Russia and its
nuclear deal with Iran...neglected a Southeast
Asia summit of nations and insulted those people.
She likes the rock star fluff but she does not
deliver rock solid results..our tax dollars down
a bush culture dry hole.

The United States is wary of Iran's oil diplomacy. Whilereluctant to speak out against the Iraq deal, it has made no secret of its displeasure with the India-Pakistan pipeline.

snip
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice said tersely: "We have communicated to the Indian government our concerns about gas pipeline cooperation between Iran and India

snip
A State Department spokesperson told The Daily Star: "While we have serious concerns about Iranian policies - including its support for international terrorism - decisions regarding Iraq's oil and power generation sectors are purely for the Iraqi government to make. It is in Iraq's interests to have solid, cooperative relationships with all its neighbors, and we support the Iraqi government in these efforts."

snip
Yesterday's announcement of a "serious commitment" on the part of Pakistan and India suggests that U.S. influence hasn't succeeded in foiling, or even slowing, the project. A joint statement issued at the end of talks in New Delhi between Indian and Pakistani oil officials this week said technical, financial, commercial, and legal

back to today this from the Iraqi Prime Minister
at the airport.

http://www.maldivesinfo.gov.mv/news.php?newsid=8209

now lets google condi one more time! nothing..nada...zip...on the Iraq/Iran alliance
and to be fair to her not much in the United
States mainstream press...but perhaps that is
becuse our leaders are not even weighing in.

Again remember the speech that bush gave

[Our goal] is to prevent regimes that sponsor terror from threatening America or our friends and allies with weapons of mass destruction. Some of these regimes have been pretty quiet since September the 11th. But we know their true nature. North Korea is a regime arming with missiles and weapons of mass destruction, while starving its citizens.
Iran aggressively pursues these weapons and exports terror, while an unelected few repress the Iranian people's hope for freedom.
Iraq continues to flaunt its hostility toward America and to support terror. The Iraqi regime has plotted to develop anthrax, and nerve gas, and nuclear weapons for over a decade. This is a regime that has already used poison gas to murder thousands of its own citizens -- leaving the bodies of mothers huddled over their dead children. This is a regime that agreed to international inspections -- then kicked out the inspectors. This is a regime that has something to hide from the civilized world.
States like these, and their terrorist allies, constitutean axis of evil, arming to threaten the peace of the world. By seeking weapons of mass destruction, these regimes pose a grave and growing danger. They could provide these arms to terrorists, giving them the means to match their hatred. They could attack our allies or attempt to blackmail the United States. In any of these cases, the price of indifference would be catastrophic

I refuse to let this story die..because it will
be a major story. It is not making a lot of noise
in the United States Press or has Condi Rice even
addressed it. I preface this by saying bush put
Iran squarely on the axis of evil list..It concerns me the bush administration is making
an admission here and the outcome is not pretty.

He called the late Imam Khomeini the key to the victory of the Islamic Revolution, adding, “We hope to eliminate the dark pages Saddam caused in Iran-Iraq ties and open a new chapter in brotherly ties between the two nations”.

snippet:
The Zionists are probably involved in planning these events but the Iraqi nation and government can reconstruct Iraq as deems fit in view of their natural and human resources and through a strong will”.

The Supreme Leader noted that the presence of U.S. military forces in Iraq has troubled people in the country and the region.

“The new Iraq has many supporters in the world of Islam, and Muslim nations and Islamic governments are dissatisfied with the U.S. behavior in the country”.

Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the drafting of a constitution as the most important issue facing Iraq.

“The Iraqi people have shown that they seek a constitution based on Islam and hopefully their representatives in the National Assembly will revive Iraq’s high position in the Islamic world by drafting such a constitution”.

I will breach this issue and it is not pretty

our are American boys and girls dieing so Iran
and Iraq can be brothers???

note: I am trying to verify but apparently
the Iraqi Prime Minister Al-Jaffari laid a wreath at the tomb of Ayatollah Khomeini.

so I am not bush bashing the evidence is their
I do not see a flip flop(yet) but I do see a
"do nothing" attitude.

Personally, this is the direction I've thought the invasion by the U.S. of Iraq would go along. Now, will we be safer after an Iran-Iraq alliance in the Middle East than we were before the war? I don't think so.

The only way we can prevent this from happening is to openly show our true colors and imperialistic objestives as detailed by Paul Wolfowitz 15 years ago.

Iraqi Official Demands Timetable for Withdrawal

The following interview with Iraq's minister of civil society activities, Ala'a al-Safi, was conducted July 20, 2005, after Iraqi Premier Ibrahim al-Jaafari's historic visit to Iran. In the interview, al-Safi explains how the Iraqi government is endeavoring to warm relations with its neighbors and push the Bush administration into setting a timeline for U.S. withdrawal. We started by talking about Prime Minister Jaafari's visit to Iran.

<snip>

What do the Americans think about that? You have this new relationship with Iran. America is describing Iran as a terrorist country.

"The Americans – if they like it or don't like it – we don't care. That's their internal issue. Now we are asking for the Americans to draw a timeline of leaving Iraq, and we will make it a priority too, if they force us to make a bad relationship with our neighbors."

No we'll whip up a fear storm so big you'll beg us to nuke Iran. The sheople bought the program for Iraq they'll just as easily be swayed on Iran.

Fear...it always works!
