I have a good trade for Iran. How about a 20 Megaton nuc on Tehran in exchange for use of the new glass parking lot.

Aww, SN, you know it's thought like that that's the problem, not the actions of lunatic governments. We should turn our cheek, you know, give them more agents. Isn't that what Jesus would do ?

Aw c'mon this is easy. We should give them what they want. We should appease them. After all it is because of Conservtive policies that the FBI Agent was taken. I cant even say that with a serious face.

This should be considered an act of war.

The title in the news article is misleading.

In the article The State Department states that they're not calling him a "hostage". They just don't know where he is. If he is found in Iran as a hostage then the article would stand, but without that the article isn't worth it's weight.

    Jamie

"Meanwhile, the State Department has launched several inquiries about Levinson's whereabouts through the Swiss Embassy in Tehran and through other foreign governments, State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said on Tuesday.

While not calling Levinson a "hostage," McCormack said that he could not rule out the possibility that he was in custody of the Iranian authorities. "I can't rule it out. We don't know where he is. As we have said before, we suspect that he is in Iran," he said."

    Yes.

What would Jesus do? What did he do to stop the killings of the Roman empire? Can you show me one thing in the Bible where Jesus toppled or even came close to "fighting" a country/state/government?

Aren't we suppose to live like Chirst in the best manner we can? It's hard, and none of us do enough to live like that, but has anything changed since he spoke those words?

"But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you." (Luke 6:27-31. NIV)

If you are telling me Jesus said to lay down, and never defend ourselves, then I disagree. Repost the verse as much as you want, that verse does not tell us to be pacifists.

God sent Israel into battle time and again. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. We must be careful how we represent God. War is not always the answer. But pacifisim is not ever the answer.

Any scripture to back up that claim?

Again, anything to back that up other than your opinion?

The defining words in your statement is 'God sent' Have there been wars? Yes, where they directed by God? Yes Won by God? Yes.

Are you telling me that God has a plan for us to attack Iran? If not, then it's not of God and we shouldn't be using force.

Now, I know the argument will eventually come up, as it always does in past threads, that the US Government isn't a religious organzation and therefore doesn't play by the same "rules" in the Bible. However, I am not arguing that point. As Christians we should expect and hope for a far better response than BOMB BOMB BOMB.

As a Christian, our first, second or any response shouldn't be to bomb, kill, or harm anyone unless it's directed by God himself.

Can anyone recall any statement by Jesus that would lead us to believe otherwise?

So, is Jesus telling us to lay down, give up, surrender ?

Often times when I ask a liberal a question, they respond just like you did.

So, I'll ask again, and since I asked first, I expect an answer first.

Does Jesus want us to give them more agents ? Are we to be pacifists ? Should we just write this agent off ? Would Jesus want Israel wiped off the map ?

He told us there is a time to kill.

As a Christian, I look to the Holy Spirit, and private prayer, to try and figure out what to do & say. I don't look to what other Christians tell me I'm supposed to expect & hope for.

    Sorry.

I think your question is very narrow minded. Jesus is telling us to not live in this world. As Christians we are suppose to worry more about the sick and poor, and the unsaved.

I don't think Jesus ever had ANY words for that matter towards the good ole' US of A. He didn't care about our country, our government or our way of life. People tend to say "God Given' right alot in America, and yet can't back it up.

To answer your question, yes we are to turn the other cheek. We are to do everything in our power to love one another, and that includes our enemies.

Often times we have discussion on this board where it doesn't have to be Liberal or Conversative... This is not one of them I guess. It's always black and white plain as day with you huh?

And now I answered, I will expect an answer back. Did Jesus ever do anything to the Roman empire or any other government/country or state? And to make things clear, I want to see it from some of Jesus' teachings.

Again, where was that stated? Who said we should send in more agents?

Answered already. Yes, unless God instructs us otherwise.

Ever heard of Prayer? Faith? Trusting in the Lord?

Another left field play. Where does this fit into this thread?

Jamie, I disagree that turn the other cheek means let people take advantage of you. That won't change. And I don't let other Christians tell me what I am to believe. If my "Bomb Iran" song upsets you, don't read it. But I mean it. The war on terror will lead us into Iran, sooner or later, and this is a just war. No matter how many times you throw Jesus at me, it won't change me. I allready have Jesus.

There is a time for everything, but that doesn't make it right to make sure that the First thing we do. The quote doesn't say Kill first, think later.

Does that mean, that if this agent is in Iran, and Iran killed him, and we believe God is in charge of everything, then we can say that it was just that agent's time to die?

I do not "believe' in war, but I do expect there to be wars. God told us there would be wars and rumors of wars. He didn't tell us to like them.

Besides, this again has nothing to do with this thread. We are talking about 1 man and an presumtion that he has been taken by Iran.

    Jamie
