Maybe there was a time when the idea of a Republic was not half bad. I still disagree with the premise of the war for independence. No nation calling itself Godly needs to murder to be free. Today, what freedoms were guaranteed under the old republic has been marginalized by hundreds of additional laws. There are no absolute freedoms anymore.
