I do hope we can have a good debate about this topic, as we present a candid view of the yearly children's holiday! I just finished watching a documentry on the day, and that was the question. Is Halloween really all that bad? Or is it victim of some bad rap or misunderstanding?

So have at. What makes this day so bad? And as a child, did you, yourself, participate in trick or treating? And if you did, what changed yoy view of the day between then and now? And what are the reasons you declare this day one that you won't let your kids be part of?

Thanks for broadening the minds of those believers who do not believe as you.

    Shalom.

Halloween is Satan's holiday and has pagan roots. Just think about it? Carving pumpkins to scare away devils is not a healthy activity. I personally do not celebrate the holiday. But we can use the day as an opportunity to witness as people may be more open to the gospel. Just last week I passed out 100 Halloween oriented gospel tracts at the Denver Zombie festival with little resistance.

Seems to be an inconsistency here 6589.

Satan's holiday yet 100 Halloween oriented gospel tracts were passed out?

Regardless of its roots Halloween is nothing more than an opportunity to dress up, act foolish, and get some candy. Trying to make it more than that is just silly. No one celebrates evil outside of some extremists satanists and they do that under a number of circumstances.

Should Christians take part in evil representations such as witches etc. No, but neither is that necessary. Christian children who go out and get candy can dress up like anything they want not something evil. pumpkins can be carved with all sorts of faces they do not have to have evil or scary faces. Good grief.

The big picture is that most will take the tract yet few will repent.

BTW every day of the week in our pagan culture has a name of Pagan or satanic origin of worship and dedicated to its god,

    Saturday - Saturn's Day
    Sunday -Day of the sun.
Monday - Day of the moon.
    Tuesday - Zeus Day.
    Wednesday - Woden's Day.
    Thursday -Thor's Day.
    Friday - Freya's Day

The scripture does not give names to the days of the week but precedes the word "day" with a cardinal number or numeric signification. - first day, second day... etc.

Also under the law, to give these kinds of names to the days of the week is forbidden:

Exodus 23:13 And in all things that I have said unto you be circumspect: and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth.

We are not under the law.

Also, when Christians meet on Sunday are they in the church worshiping the sun on "Sunday"?

When Christians meet on Wednesday to pray are they praying to Woden on Woden's Day?
    Nonsensical questions.

Halloween is just another day and every day belongs to God.

    Precisely.

Those who follow the pagan calendar celebrate many other days throughout the year and yet Christians don't seem to get worked up about those.

I don't celebrate Halloween myself, I think much of the imagery is too dark in tone and it brings back sad memories of ministry to those involved in paganism/satanism. But that's a personal preference.

I don't have children, but if I did, I wouldn't have any concerns if they wanted to dress up and take part in the fun. I would just use discretion as to the imagery that they embraced.

Nothing wrong with Halloween. Well, except for the fact that we tell children not to accept candy from strangers but on one day a year they can go and solicit candy from all the strangers possible!

Oh, yeah. I posted this pic last year (click to enlarge). Some people have an unhealthy "appreciation" for the holiday. This is a house down the street from me. I'll see if I can get another photo from this year. It's just as gaudy as last year, maybe more so.

Tīw's day. Tiw was the Norse warrior god of single combat. Tiw was the Norse equivalent to the Roman god of war, Mars. (Greek Ares - Ἄρης) :)

Every day is an opportunity for evangelism. At the same time, I don't usually hand out tracts or preach on street corners, but every event or activity has the potential to lead to conversations about the fundamental issues of life.

Yes. Some historians connect Tiws, Zeus and Jupiter. Zeus is more well known.
    We don't have a Jupiday. :)

    Then some historians are wrong.

    Tiws = Mars = Ares.
Zeus = Jupiter (Jove) = Oden.

If they think Jupiter and Mars are the same person, they are sadly mistaken. :)
