    In SS yesterday I mentioned that SATAN WAS IN HEAVEN and not hell; as a matter of fact, hell (lake of fire, not hades) was empty. :rolleyes:

    More than one raised eyebrow. :eek:

    Yup... The truth is sometimes uncomfortable.

    But one day the lake of fire will be filled... :(

    Satan is not in the 3rd heaven, though he does have access to the Throne of God. He is in the 1st and 2nd heavens, which is basically our atmosphere/sky.

    The lake of fire is empty b/c hell has yet to be cast into it.

    God's throne is in "heaven" (Rev 4)
    Satan is in the presence of God in heaven (Job 1; Rev 12)
    Therefore, Satan is in heaven.

    When the unsaved mindlessly repeat "Our father who art in heaven" (as many are wont to do) they are actually heard by their father in heaven - Satan (John 8:44)

    ~~~~~~
    Beast (antichrist) and False Prophet will be first into the Lake of Fire. Then Satan. Then death and hades. (Rev. 20).
    Then all not written in the Book of Life.
    God and satan(EVIL) cannot co-exist with each other. So how can satan be in the same place(Heaven as you say), with God? But, on the other hand, God(Jesus) and satan are amoung us on earth, which means they seen to co-exist here. Somewhat confusing, to say the least. In any given family, one who is a Christian is with God while one who isn't a Christian, in the same family, is with satan.
    All based of course on the assumption that Revelation is still yet future.
    Hell is not empty at this time--
    2 Peter 2:4. For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them into gloomy dungeons to be held for judgment; ...
    Some of Satans followers have already been sent on ahead, apparently guilty of some paricularly heinous crimes.
    Satan himself comes and goes into the presence of God, accusing "our brothers," and will continue to do so until the midpoint of the tribulation period when the war in heaven ends with Satan's expulsion.
    edit-- This last paragraph is per Rev. 12 to which Dr. Bob has already referred.
    What about the IF GOD above. In that particular verse it doesn't seem definative.
    What about God's 1000 rule on earth with Satan chained up only to be let loose at the close of this time period? Sounds like a rule after a pretrib rapture.
    Dr. Bob, with respect "much learning doth make thee mad". Here are my views on this issue. We know that satan has access to Heaven, Job2:1 And the Lord said unto satan, From whence comest thou? And satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. In Rev.2:13 while speaking to John the Lord said He knew where satans seat is. Although we are not sure where satan "lives", we believe he was cast out of Heaven, Ezk.28:16,17, Isa.14:12- I realize the timing here could be in question. Some believe he was cast out and described between verse 1 and 2 in Gen. commonly called the gap theory. We also know that we wrestle with him or his henchman every day, Eph.6:12. We also know that God is not the author of confusion I Cor.14:33 AND as confused as some are on this board I will stick out my neck and say I believe satan dwells in the church today.
    One of the most discerning statements ever made on this board, IMHO - In 53 years, I've never met Baptists like some who claim to be here. :eek:
Whether so or not, is it a sin to be confused? Now to what I stated earlier. Even though the scriptures seem to indicate that Satan has access to Heaven, then, How can God(all good), and Satan(all evil), co-exist in Heaven. We are "sin free", when we ENTER Heaven, so what gives with Satan who is nor ever will be sin free to be allowed into Heaven?
    God Bless...........Alex
    Good thoughts, but not quite accurate! Some English translations of God's Word use "hell" here, but that word is NOT in the Bible in this case! It is a unique word "tartarus" and means "holding cell; prison". Evidently these are the angels of Genesis 6 infamy and those are being held there until the final judgment (when they WILL end up in hell).
    Remember, English translations alone may be hazzardous to your understanding of Scripture! :rolleyes:
    But if the Greek word "tartarus" WAS used, wasn't tartarus in the Greek culture used to mean the part of Hades where "bad" people went for punishment? I'm just wondering your justification of that definition for a Greek word that was so clearly defined by the Greek culture and belief in mythology?
