So I'm in a very tight situation. My mom has been doing IET or integrated energy therapy or healing. She says that she uses angels and the energy around her to help her heal people. I'm really nervous though because aren't God and Jesus the only ones who can heal. isn't what she is doing kinda demonic? I don't know for certain and would really like your inputs.
    Thanks,
    God Bless
    Derek

    Hello Derek,
    Welcome to Baptistboard.
What you are describing sounds like new age healing ideas...potions, crystals, reiki,

God is able to heal in answer to believing prayer.
God is also able to not allow sickness to come to us to begin with.
Trust in the Lord at all times.

You're describing the occult. You need to begin praying for your mother, and you probably need to leave the house if you're living together.

Hi Derek. Christians believe what the Bible teaches, but opinions vary as to exactly what the Bible teaches. A wide group of Christians are called "cessionalists" and we believe the Bible teaches the gift of healing has ceased. Others of course disagree. But those in my camp believe "healers" are fakes, charlatans, phoneys.

At the end of the day, Derek, God's grace is sufficient for all of us. The key is salvation through Christ Jesus. Barring the return of Christ, all of us will physically die. But the Bible tells us to ask God for what we desire, and of course we desire for the pain and suffering of our loved ones to end. Many of us regularly as God to heal and comfort those who are sick and sometimes dying, if it is in God's will. But we do not know if God's will is to heal or allow to suffer and die. Our task is to trust in Christ no matter what for His grace is sufficient for us.

    God bless.

Derek, I was unfamiliar with IET until a few minutes ago, but I found the home page for the guy who claims to have invented it. He claims to me a Reiki master and that he is a channel for the angel Ariel (although there are apparently eight other angels at work).

I don't know if this is a simple scam, demonic, or a bit of both (likely).

In any case, the leader is claiming special powers connected to angels - not God - that allow healing over distances and through proxies. IET is attempting to mimic the power of God through beings claimed to be angels. That teaching is demonic, whether or not there is any actual power involved.

You are right to be concerned. Ask God for wisdom and the power of the Spirit to talk with you mother in an appropriate way. Go with the attitude of a learner, BUT NOT as a participant, and ask about the teaching and compare it to the scriptures. I have had some success for occultists through this approach. However, there are many who involve themselves in "New Age" practices because they have explicitly rejected God, so don't be surprised if your conversations are ineffective for a while. Careful and loving perseverance is the key.
