Is It Me or Has the News and Political Parties Run Away from Moderates and/or Social Conservatives?

Hi,

I am a staunch social conservative who doesn't have a set ideology when it comes to economic issues. This makes me a social conservative - moderate. The kind of people recruited by President Trump in the last election to win in the rust belt and elsewhere. Such as in I-4 corridor Florida where I live. I would have been called a "populist" ten years ago. However, in the wake of the Trump Phenomenon that word has lost its original meaning.

I am fed up personally with the news and politics in America. I watch MSNBC to hear the Far Left, I turn on Fox News to hear the Far Right, I turn on CNN to find the supposedly "balanced and truthful" crowd who are still very Left and outright supported Hillary Clinton. The closest thing to Moderate nowadays is ABC News but that's George Stephanopolous, who seems in charge of politics, over there. He worked for President Clinton, so I know better.

I like watching the news a lot to keep up to date on all the issues. I now watch mainly reality television on the educational channels because the news is so irritating to watch. That aside, it seems watching all of these networks, that no one cares at all about social conservatives except for some like Tucker Carlson and Fox and Friends. It also seems that no one cares it seems about moderates on most other issues. In addition, the news has forgotten about populists as defined 10 years ago like myself, who decided the last election. Its like populists are the next "in crowd" like soccer moms and NASCAR dads in the 90s. A group to be manipulated to your side by "strategists."

Am I right? If so, then this country has divided to levels I cannot imagine except to reference bad periods of American history. Has President Trump's Presidency and the rise of social liberalism divided us that much into pro-Trump and anti-Trump camps? Is the News in America really this far gone into constant, overt bias? I mean I find it more balanced and compelling to watch BBC News on American stories now.

I will also add that the Democrats amaze me, there is a genuine divide between Leftists, who want to be more moderate but are still socially liberal to the core, and the Far Left. The huge numbers of Democrats who are socially conservative seems to have been lost on their leaders. The way things are going I will not be able to vote for the average Democratic candidate ever again. This bothers me as the Republicans are now the party of being staunchly conservative ideologically on all issues. A moderate on certain issues, though none social, like myself feels unwelcome on the Right.

Lastly, what is the Great Divide in America right now? By that I mean why are we so divided? I just don't understand from my own limited perspective what is going on in this nation, especially at base.

the very simple reason is, that the USA was once more of a God fearing nation, like here in England, and now has turned its back on the same Lord God of the Bible, and opened the door to the devil and all that he stands for. The Bible clearly says that we cannot serve two masters.

We were God fearing?!? Really... when?

the times of John Whitefield and Jonathan Edwards, the nation was more God-centered than it is today. What of the so-called "Bible-belt" states, were they not much more Bible Christian than they are now? My point is that there has been a huge decline in Biblical Christianity in the US as there is in the UK, and more Liberal forms are now more accepted.

SBG One word from the Son of God and there would be another Great Awakening.

Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Revelation 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

I now understand this was more a lament. I needed to process the emotions welling up inside me.

I have been off and on monitoring the situation in the U.K. I must say that in the U.K. it is almost to the point that there is no Gospel presence. A Reformed Pentecostal evangelist from the U.K. informed me that there are almost no churches that oppose the government's stances on many issues, including sexuality. He says that very, very few churches are trying to hold to sound doctrine. Then again, he is Pentecostal and thus has given in to many false teachings. Something I know from being a part of that movement. From the sound of it, there are almost no churches with sound doctrine left in that country. The U.K. is dead spiritually in a great falling away in that nation.

If that were to come to American shores, I am literally in terror at what that means for the world and the future. A North America and European Continent that looks like the U.K. could be argued to be the Great Falling Away of the End Times. A world on the brink of calamity beyond all that has come before it.

I don't see how churches that hold to sound doctrine are any more than those holding the line against sin with the only path to salvation in a society increasingly lost in sin.

Excuse me, all issues? Like trade wars, like borrowing 2 trillion from China, like robbing the military to pay for a wall?!? Yea sure.

I just need to say that you missed the tone entirely, I was lamenting like Job or Jeremiah and looking for answers at a culture dying around me.

Of course, President Trump is rocking the conservative boat, but think of it this way: I can be a Trumper or a never-Trumper conservative, that's about it. It is as constrained as the Democratic party's choice of being a Moderate Liberal or Far Lefter.

Then you have not thought it through sufficiently. I would you think it through and further suggest you stand as your own man in suggesting stances you should take.
