I am currently reading The Sermons of Jonathon Edwards and have yet to find anything theologically off. Although I do wish the editor would have translated them into modern English.:tongue3:

Mine too. More of us preachers need to bring that passion and that reality from the pulpit. Too many people think they just make mistakes but are basically good as opposed to understanding they are sinners and owe everything to a God who is righteous and just.

In the absence of proof the unknown commentator can't be taken seriously.

Jonathan Edwards was a uniquely American puritan. Arguably he was one of the last puritans of note. He wasn't a great orator. He manuscripted his sermons and read them word for word from the pulpit. It was the content of his sermons that cause him to be discussed hundreds of years after his death.

Edwards is one of the reasons I take sermon content seriously.

Count me as a "fan" of Jonathan Edwards as well. The Puritans produced some of the most wonderful Christian literature since the Reformation. Great, great stuff indeed.
