Is Love So Beautiful We Must Destroy It?

    There is a Christian Musical called, "Celebrate Life," that does an amazing job of portraying the full life of Christ, from the announcement of Him coming birth to His resurrection from the grave. At one point, when people have gone from shouting halejuah's at Him during the triumphant entry to demanding his death, the narrator steps forward, and says, "He was love in its purest form, and He was hated for that. Is love so beautiful we must destroy it?"

    I read in another thread where Christ says, "Much was forgiven for she loved much," going, "No, he didn't MEAN that, he meant she sinned a lot." I see a lot of similiar statements. "He didn't MEAN we shouldn't judge non-Christians." "Salvation shouldn't be easy."

    Why?
    Why do people want so much to make God seem "less loving?"
    Why do people fight so hard to make mercy less God given and more man earned?
    Why do people try so hard to find excuses not to love like He told us to when He was asked what the greatest commandments were?

    I'm serious with this question.

    Why is it that you folks are objecting to the love of God? Isn't the love of God what saved us?

    That's what John tells us. "For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth on Him should not perish, but have every lasting life."

    It doesn't say, "For God so loved the repentent sinners who earned his love,"....
    WHich is good, because we weren't.

    It doesn't say, "Love the people who are sinless," which is good, because we aren't.

    It doesn't say, "Love those who earn it," because we can't.

    So, why do so many here on this board try to make God less God by making love less important?

    It isn't a hard to find message in the scripture.
    Christ said it.
    John said it.
    Paul said it.
    James said it.
    Peter said it.

    Love was most important to Christ, per them all.

    So, why are we, today, trying to say they are all wrong?

    love is born from God, but i always found this prose interesting>>>>

    A Tale of Two Sisters
    The Tragedy of Ecumenical Unfaithfulness
    ----------------------------------------------------------

    With heart so kind and gentle,
    And sympathetic eye;
    With touching deep affection,
    And loyal, tender tie—
    Was LOVE betrothed to DOCTRINE
    To hold him all her days,
    And walk the path of gladness
    United in His ways.

    Her younger sister also
    Had qualities so fair,
    Of caring, selfless, kindness,
    And warmth without compare;
    Thus UNITY was drawn to
    The husband of her youth;
    And pledged herself forever
    To be the bride of TRUTH.

    But TIME, with bitter envy,
    Across the testing years.
    Pursued the slow erosion
    Of happiness to tears;
    Till LOVE begin to weary
    Of DOCTRINE’S pleasant voice,
    And UNITY grew cold to
    The partner of her choice.

    Then LOVE begin to notice
    The charms of HERESY,
    And awed by his opinions,
    She wanted to be free;
    And UNITY perceived that
    Her virtues were desired
    By many, many others
    Whose ways she so admired.

    At length, two precious unions,
    So promising, so blest,
    Were darkened by delusion,
    Disloyalty, unrest;
    Till came the day of sorrows,
    And rendering vows of youth,
    When LOVE divorced her DOCTRINE
    And UNITY her TRUTH.

    I like that.

    It absoltuely frightens me to pick up my bible and read from Matthew to Revelation, which I did weekend before last because so much of what I see on this board was heavy on my heart, and see how many, many, many times Christ and Paul and everyone else, rebukes Pharisees for loving little, and yet see those who claim to follow Christ miss that message.

    How could it be any MORE clear?

    jdcanady, I don't think she is representing you well. And a note to all other posters, TexasSky has been reprimanded for twisting other peoples words on other threads. Dr. Bob, an administrator scolded her several times for this.

    The woman was loved much because she was forgiven of much sin. jdcanady, that is what you're saying, correct?

    Let me add a side note to TexasSky...God is not all love. He is also judgement and Holy. You seem to take the love side to the extreme and have little balance doctrinally.

    I said the passage indicates the woman loved much, and was showing that love to Christ, because she realized she had been forgiven much.

    God is Holy. God is rightous. God is love.

    Man is not holy. Man is not rightous. Man is not love. Without Christ in our lives

    God judges man because, He is God. Man judges man, we put our selves in God's place. I know without a doubt God sent His Son to die for mankind. I know, God loves us. I choose to show that love to others. I don't condone sin. I believe God will take care of the judgement part. God, wants us to mirror his Son. He loved us so much, He died on the cross for our sin. I am not qualified to judge anyone. I know God forgives and give new life. Thats what I want to show the world.

    While Christ was the epitome of Love Incarnate, He never tolerated sin in any form.
    Not hypocrisy, nor Phariseeism, nor adultery, nor selfishness, nor pride, nor extortion, nor any other sins He encountered while walking this earth.
    If we are to truly surrender our lives to Him and yield to His Holy Spirit to live HIS life in us, we can do neither more nor less than He did.
    He never compromised His holiness in favor of His love. For if He did, or if one thinks we ought to, then He is not God and we are among all men most miserable for our religion is in vain.

    FWIW.

    In HIS service;
    Jim

    Jim,

    No one ever suggested we should live in sin.

    And Christ showed us amazing examples of how to deal with people in sin.

    All I ask is that you follow the example he gave you in dealing with sin in others.

    How did he handle the woman at the well?
    He talked her with kindness, he let her know he knew her secret, he told her that he could give her more from life, he told her to stop the sin.

    He didn't verbally attack her, or mock her, or call her a heathen. He never told her she deserved hell.

    Look at Mary Magdeline. Do you ever see Christ shaking a condencending finger in her face and shouting her sins out to the world?

    Look at Zacheus.

    Look at Matthew.

    Look at Peter when he denied him.

    Look at the woman caught in adultry.

    Look at Paul after he had killed Stephen.

    Christ DID say, "Sin no more," but Christ said it with love and with patience.

    I'm not asking anyone to compromise anything, Jim. I'm asking people to follow the second greatest commandment of Christ - as labeled such BY Christ. I'm asking people to love their neighbors as much as they love themselves.

    You have some sin in your life. I do. We all do. We're human beings.

    Do you want some Christian in your church to shun you? To lecture you on how horrible you are? To tell the world around you that you deserve to go to hell and that you're unworthy of being called a child of God?

    OR - do you want them to come to you and say, "Jim, look, I love you, God loves you. Why are you doing this? You know its a sin. If you can't deal with this temptation alone, tell me how I can help you. You have to stop what your doing. God loves you, but he hates sin."

    Which message is more likely to lead someone out of sin? They both admit God hates sin. They both say, "sin must stop."

    The difference is - one is a loving response that exhorts with patience and longsuffering, and the other is a condemnation of man by a man who is unworthy of condemning others.

    We are NOT the Master. We can't judge his servants.
    We are fellow-servants who can teach and guide one another.

    We are NOT God to condemn others to hell.
    We are servants of God who can teach his message.

    We are NOT sinless or blameless to point out the minor sin we caught someone else at, while harboring dark clouds of sin in the secret recesses of our hearts.
    We are FELLOW sinners who can say, "I know that temptation is too much for man, but it is NOT too much for God. Let God help you, and if He sees fit to use me to help you, here I am."

    In Christ's name,

    Sky

    He who knew no sin became sin.

    That shows you the depths that Christ will go for sinners!!!!!!!!!
