In a previous thread, I asked whether Scripture teaches that God created all music. Given what I have encountered in previous discussions elsewhere, I was surprised to learn that hardly anyone on that thread said that they believed that He did, and no one made a concerted effort to try to show from Scripture that He did.

Given that the vast majority of people do not believe that Scripture teaches that God created all music, I now would like to see what believers think about music of the devil. Do you believe that some instrumental music is the devil's music?

Nope. There are no words. Therefore, nothing is being taught. Now, is some instrumental music unpleasant to the ears? Yep.

You have stated a position, but what do the statements that you offer in support of your position have to do with whether or not some instrumental music is the devil's music?

Scripture is our ultimate authority on every subject. It reveals that angels are musical beings who play musical instruments. The devil is a (fallen) angel. Scripture does not reveal any basis for holding that the devil is not able to play musical instruments.

Do you believe that the devil and his demons are musical beings who can play musical instruments?

Do you believe that whatever the Bible says on any subject is infallible and inerrant truth about that subject?

Do you believe what the Bible reveals about angels playing musical instruments?

Just what would be the devil's music? That interlude he played when he bet 'Johnny' for his soul in The Devil Went Down to Georgia?

Before we can talk about what would be the devil's music, we have to first be agreed that he is a musical being who can play musical instruments. Do you believe that is true?

No. Scripture does not tell us this. So I will regard it as a stranger on the street-- he may or may not play a musical instrument.

The Scripture certainly does tell us that angelic beings are musical beings who play musical instruments. Do you deny that those passages are true?

Scripture tells us that all angelic beings play musical instruments? No. I reckon we can't have that discussion you were talking about.

Do you deny that Scripture speaks of angels playing musical instruments? If you do, there isn't anything more for us to discuss.

If not, whatever Scripture says about the subject must be the basis for what we believe.

    Hello.

When I was really into rock,
l would buy albums of the bands I liked that had skilled musicians.
On these albums there might be one or two "instrumentals".
But, the rest of the songs that had 'great' music also had lyrics that
promoted a lifestyle or way of thinking that is contrary to the teachings of the Lord.

It seems to me that most of that type of music is still presented in the same manner, i.e.,
some instrumentals and many songs with lyrics.

If that is the old way of presentation, excuse me.

I don't quite understand what point you are seeking to make.

Is it just stick with Beethoven or roll over?

I think that I have been pretty straightforward, but maybe restating will help. This thread is about finding out what people think about whether some instrumental music (regardless of whether there are lyrics being sung to it or not) is the devil's music.

Furthermore, my aim in this discussion to focus on whatever Scripture reveals that pertains or might pertain to that subject and promote more accurate understanding of that scriptural revelation.

But could not the devil lure the unsuspecting into the real message by using instrumental music?
But if not, If six turned out to be nine, I don't mind.

Yes, he could, but that's not really what I am wanting to get at.

Do you believe that some instrumental music itself is the devil's music? If so, why? If not, why not?

OK sorry I do not want to hijack your path.
But since you asked me I would say the devil often uses instrumental music as a siren song to lure people into accepting his agenda of how people frame the world in their struggle to make sense of it.
He's been a liar from the beginning.
All qualified (by me) of which genre we're talking about.
My experiential proof is centered on rock.
