As much as I hate to say it, there seems to be a political hidden agenda with this CIA report release. Time will prove me right or wrong, but what say you? Is Obama behind this entire thing, or it a Barbara Feinstein temper tantrum because she was under the microscope of the CIA?

One more question on this uproar: Is this another attempt by Obama to humiliate America by making another transparent apology for this nation's arrogance and overstep of power? And will it hurt us more than help, as madam Barbara so powerfully said?

It is human nature for us to make others look worse than ourselves, and Obama plays it well. He hopes everyone is seeing how evil Bush was so they will take their eyes off of him. Sin is very dark indeed.

Should we (as Christians) accept human rights violations (according to the Geneva Convention and UN treaties we signed) as part of our national heritage now because we don't want Obama to make Bush look bad?

    A few thoughts:
    1. It's Dianne Feinstein, not Barbara. You might've mixed up her name with Barbara Boxer.
    2. Like you, I find the timing of the release of this report is very much suspect. With the Democrats being recently handed one of the worst political defeats in recent memory, it's not surprising that some of them would lash out at Republicans. Madeline Albright has stated, albeit somewhat jokingly, that the Democrats, particularly the Obama Administration, would blame Bush "forever."
    3. The fear I have is what repercussions this move will draw. Just how many lives lost is it worth to score political points against the GOP?

It's a sad truth of American politics that both parties will go out of their way to slander the other party, regardless the cost. One thing to consider is the moving goal post that is "human rights violations." There's been a case recently of a Muslim man being thrown in jail, and the jail requires either clean shaven or closely-groomed beards. The Muslim man has a long, thick beard, as common in his religion. Per the regulations, he should shave. A case is being made against the prison that requiring him to shave is somehow a "human rights violation." It's a fine line that we all have to walk like a tightrope.

If this sham doesn't work .... he can still deal up the tried and true race card. I can see it now ... Bush did this all out of hate for the Arab race. Protesters get ready, Bush has a huge ranch to walk around saying no more water, I
    can't breathe!

Sorry ... but we were at war with a ruthless enemy that gets off on cutting heads off! I have no problem with harsh interrogation methods to keep them out of my backyard .... and if they were in your backyard, you'd be asking for the same from the CIA!

The dying spasms of a defunct administration.
Kinda like a snake that has been fatally wounded, lashing out at ANYTHING within reach in it's fear/anger/frustration just wanting to retaliate against whatever it can!

Sorry but war or no war there are actually laws and rules in the United States code and International treaty laws that we actually have to abide by.

I'll just leave this for you.

If the CIA report is "one more attempt by Obama to embarrass Bush", surely you can list at least two other attempts by Obama to embarrass Bush. Let's hear them.

As to the OP, it's merely an attempt by the administration through his cronies in the Senate to play to their base. Also agree with just-want-peace--it's a desperation move of an irrelevant regime.

Bush (for whom I voted twice) should be embarrassed, as should be any Christian who tacitly endorses torture.

Nah, the same people that think we should take the time to throw out millions of illegal immigrants because they came here "illegally" won't bat an eye on torture because "hey, that's just the way it's always been" or "we gotta do it what it takes because we are at war!" Nevermind that whatever high ground America had since 9/11 was eroded year after year by stuff like this. It's embarrassing as a civilized modern country that we stampede all over our own internal laws regarding these practices while also spitting on the Geneva Conventions that we helped ratify. The greatest nation and fighting force on the planet had to resort to the torture of citizens of a third world country that was barely removed from the stone age.

Torture is an ambiguous term. I certainly don't want the governments of the world to define it.

That being said, we showed pictures of Sadaam as a prisoner, in the laundry, on the freakin' gallows, all against the Geneva Conventions. I was disgusted by the televised taunting of the man while he had a noose around his neck.

But it's not just Bush. After working as hard as they did in the 90's to get these wars started, you'd think the democrats wouldn't be so quick to distance themselves from it.

Yeah, that Iraqi judge was really enjoying himself up there but then again he probably had been waiting to safely lay into Saddam for his entire life. Wasn't the judge killed recently? I thought I saw something where ISIS got him?

The Geneva Convention is only applicable and binding when the other side agrees to adhere to it, the US is not obligated to follow their laws.

I say do what is needed to get what you need!

Yeah, it doesn't quite work that way buddy. We are obligated to follow OUR laws and the International laws for crimes against humanity.

Really? I've been keeping pretty close track and so far no war has been declared.

Waging war without a congressional declaration is illegal. Does the law still matter to you or are you willing to dispense with that and our founding principles when you get scared or emotional? If so then the "terrorists" have already won.

Our ally Saudi Arabia chops off heads and they support the radical Wahhabist head choppers you seem to be so fearful of. I haven't heard you complaining about the Saudis or their support of the radical head choppers.

    Maybe I missed it?

Here's the thing, this government considers YOU a terrorist threat.

Are you going to feel the same way when the CIA or DHS hangs you or your family from the ceiling by your wrists (a form of crucifixion) and blasts you with bone crushingly loud devil music 24 hours a day, without charges, or without a trial?

I think you may be forgetting part of the golden rule here. There's more to it than "do to others to get what you need".

Have you even considered that these "evil people" might hate us because we're such big fat hypocrites and can't seem to keep our noses or our military out of everyone else's backyard?

Why We NEED Torture “To Keep Us Safe”

You’ve heard people say that we should end all torture.

But do you want to hear why all of those naive and pampered idiots are wrong when they say we don’t need torture? And why – in the real world in which we live – Dick Cheney is right?

Do you want to know the cold, hard facts about why we need torture?

There are none. None of the top military or defense experts think we need to torture. See for yourself

    http://www.globalresearch.ca/why-we-need-torture-to-keep-us-safe/13940

What do the experts know about it eh RD2?

Preface: This is not a partisan issue. As shown below, Democrats are complicit in high crimes as well.

The Government Is Breaking the Law By Failing to Prosecute Torture

President Ronald Reagan signed a treaty legally requiring the U.S. to prosecute everyone who authorizes torture.

Specifically, the Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (signed by the U.S. under Ronald Reagan) provides:

    http://www.globalresearch.ca/the-highest-law-of-the-land-requires-the-government-to-prosecute/5394838

So I guess that we're all for the rule of law until we get scared, angry or nervous then anything goes, is that about right RD2?

Am I correct in assuming that it is your opinion that we should live by the "law of jungle" instead of the law of the land?

    "kill or be killed".

    Of course its true poncho.

However the reality is that when survival/panic settles in "should live by..." is the wrong descriptive phrase.

We seemingly by nature adopt the law of the jungle.
It's what we do instinctively, not what we should do.
