I thought that Iraq considering switching from petro-dollars to petro-euros was one of the reasons for the invasion.

 

I expect a recession. We are overdue. It will be a good opportunity for peoople who are free and clear to buy real estate when the market bottoms. Slum lording is a good way to get rich if one has the personality for it. Unfortunately, I don't.

 

Is the dollar doomed? Maybe.

I remember hearing the dollar being doomed talk 20 years ago.

 

Every fiat currency throughout history, eventually falls. People talked about the doom 20 years ago but the United States did not have a $9 trillion+ deficit then, it hadn't given away most of its manufacturing to foreign lands in favor of a service based economy, and it did not have the enormous trade deficit it currently has. Further, the United States had not revealed its intention to combine North America into a single economic entity and cause people to accept a single currency. It also didn't have international enemies jumping off the dollar as a reserve currency. Oh and we weren't spending hundreds of billions of dollars on fighting that terror guy. The folks in charge have a saying "Ordo ab chao", or "Order out of chaos". They will bring chaos to the dollar (which is not truly a dollar btw) and they will bring order through the Amero. They will then have their consolidated American region and the United States of America, and her Constitution, will fade out of memory, for it certainly won't be taught in public school textbooks.

 

I can go back further than that. I remember doomsayers when France was working on taking us off the gold standard in the '60s. Wow, the end of the world just around the corner. The dollar would fail and a repeat of the great depression was only months away.

Nor did Adam die immediately after eating the apple.

 

Funny thing about sowing and reaping, it takes a while for the fruit to appear.

And, from an elderly viewpoint, if the dollar lives as long as Adam, I'll be fine.

If it doesn't, maybe the CSA dollars should have been saved.
