I have heard this several times. What biblical grounds are given for this assertion? How is this harmonized with the assertion that we are saved by faith alone in Christ alone?

Don't know; how long will that be? After a.d. 70 there was no independent state of Israel until 1948, and the the US managed to get by before '48. So don't fall for any mesmorization that if we end support for Israel a dozen H-bombs will come falling on us.

The U.S. does not owe the current political state of Israel a blank check. They are an ally of ours and should be treated as such.

Since the current political state of Israel was created, the U.S. has fought three wars, lots of police actions, had recessions, had leaders assassinated, had two major economic buildings collapse under a terrorist attack, seen our moral values go into the gutter, etc. Supporting the current political state of Israel is no guarantee of a bed of roses.

I reckon a number of Christians in America may pressure their government to support Israel. The Christadelphian church near me has a new message about Israel and Bible prophecy almost weekly. They even once had a meeting to prove from the bible how the Gulf war was prophecied in the Bible. There are some Christians who do believe that a Jew does not need to accept Jesus Christ in order to be Saved, and there seems to be a reverence for Israel based around this Idea.

America along with all countries should help any nation to be free and for rights for all its citizens This was the idea of the United Nations. Israel make some of the greatest scientific discoveries in the world and have aided many who are hurting. I genuinley hope that they will have true peace in their nation as for the world. I suppose only the elected representatives of the U.S government can really make the descion of how far to go with Israel. We can pray for our governments that Gods will would be central in the descions made.

Zech 2:[8] For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.

the British empire was in tact until about 1917, at which time England withdrew her support from the few Jewish settlements which were in Palestine at that time. After her refusal to offer aid to the Palestinian Jews, the British Empire began to fall apart. Since that time England has not helped the Jews much, The aid vacuum has been filled by the USA. Was this a coincidence? I don't think so.

I am moving this thread to the politics forum. My opinion is that it is more political than theological or biblical.

    Thank you,
