I think so. There's both personal and impersonal worship.

 

If by personal you mean private, then of course. We are commanded to pray, fast and give alms privately.

If you mean personalized like a style preference--not just music--I don't think there is such a thing. For example, dancing is not worship privately or corporately.

 

Personal as in...can I worship God alone? Yes, and I often do. But, I also love to gather with others (not always in "church") and worship Him.

 

I'm going to have to say that yes, there is such thing as personnal worship. I'd also like to say that I know people who use dancing to worship God. I believe that to be true and sincere worship.

I have seen dance in services unto the Lord and it is a beautiful type of worship. (Yes, even in a SBC, LOL!)

I've mentioned this before. What Israel did under the law is not binding upon the church. We can no more apply that Psalm to Christian worship any more than we can apply the Psalms which enjoin animal sacrifice or the burning of incense, though I wouldn't be surprised if the SBC picked upon on those too.

There is no example of Christ dancing, nor of any of the Apostles.

 

Let me start with my definition of personal worship and then my answer will have meaning.

Personal worship is:

Pray without ceasing.(1 Thessalonians 5:17)

...singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,(Ephesians 5:19)

My answer to the question is:
If there is no such thing as personal worship how can you have a relationship with Christ Jesus?

Again, if by personal one means private, then of course there is such a thing. But if by personal one means what one prefers, like a color of paint, then no, there is no such thing.

 

So your saying that it's impossible for me to prefer worshipping by reading the Psalms, someone else might preder singing a hymn, and someone else might prefer to play a piece on the piano. That's impossible? Interesting...
