A decade ago, American television reported that Haitians were eating dirt cookies to stay alive. Another website relisted the video a couple of days ago. I wonder if things are better in Haiti? Does anyone know?

No, haven't even been to Haiti but it's still mired in poverty while the Dominican Republic on the other side of the island thrives. As for the dirt cookies, they probably still make them:
