Weather systems tend to run in cycles, and this is a fierce one. However that is not the cause for end time suspicians. The events in the Middle East are what marks the real clue. Jesus said the generation that saw the Israelites come back to their land would be the generation that also saw it all accomplished. That makes it us.

I am guessing that within the next ten to twenty years the Lord will come to claim His own and then all hell will break out on earth.

 

Matt 16:4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas

 

buckster, that did not have to do with the end times. Jesus was responding to the Pharisees demanding a sign regarding His ability to do miraculous things and prove He was the Messiah.

In Matthew 24, the disciples ask what the sign will be regarding the end and Jesus takes a great deal of time to answer. Part of that discourse includes:

'Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see all these tings, you know that it is near, right at the door.'

A bit later He admonishes, 'Therefore, keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.'

Later in the discourse he follows up His description of the end times with the Parable of the Ten Virgins who were watching for the Bridegroom.

So King James is asking a reasonable question.

I don't think it is my place to give some kind of theological dissertation, buckster, but I do know what Jesus said about the end times, and I do know that when the disciples asked Him, He did not tell them they were wicked for asked, but spent quite some time explaining to them what to look for.

 

The difference between what we are seeing now and what will happen immediately prior to the second coming is the scope of it. The things that will happen during the great tribulation will be on a massive world wide scale.

Just imagine a Katrina/New Orleans situation on a world wide scale!

After that tribulation Jesus will come to redeem His people who will remain from this corrupt world, establish His kingdom, and reign for a thousand years, after which He will deliver up the kingdom to the Father, that God may be all and all!

Even so come Lord Jesus!

No. The beginning of the end began when God created the heavend and the earth. Since then, every day that passes brings us one day closer to the end. Those who say the end is at hand are no different than those in the last 200+ years who have done the same. They are all guilty of chicken-littleesque "the sky is falling" tactics.

I wasn't aware that they were "so close together". I am aware, though, that we tend to be very short sighted.

I am 99% sure that I will die an old man in my bed, and just as sure that most of you will do the same. If that 1% happens to occur tomorrow, that's fine too. I'm still going to continue to save for retirmenet.

 

i think the fact that 2 such strong hurricanes in the gulf. I heard a guy on the weather channel say that this was the first time 2 of this magnitude had been in the gulf in the same season.

I don't know about that. Hurricanes aren't exactly uncommon in the Gulf coast. Cat3's aren't exactly unusual. For there to be a Cat3 and a Cat5 in the same season is hardly uncommon.

Yes. Gulf coast storms, even when they're not Cat3+, get attention every year here.

 

NO, they are not getting the same attention on their local channels. Yes, they get the same national coverage.

I have lived in So Cal, and the news attention there is ALWAYS more on So Cal than on the rest of the country. That is why so many C.O.P.S. shows focus on So Cal - they have sooooo much footage of chase scenes ...

 

SOrry, EG, you're wrong on this one. We're getting plenty of coverage on our local channels.
